This is a quantitative analyst position within the Commodities Quantitative Research team, with responsibilities including developing and maintaining models for valuation, risk, profit/loss calculations, as well as quoting and market making algorithms and analysis tools.

Core responsibilities:

  • Develop models and implement them in software for pricing and risk managing derivatives

  • Develop pricing and calibration tools

  • Benchmark and compare results of various techniques

  • Implement products using pricing engines and models

  • Explain model behavior and predictions to traders, identify major sources of risk in portfolios, carry out scenario analyses, provide guidance / debug analytics

  • Rapid prototyping of models and products


  • Relevant quantitative modelling and/or derivatives trading desk support experience, preferably in Commodities

  • Deep understanding of options pricing theory (i.e. quantitative models for pricing and hedging derivatives)

  • Excellence in probability theory, stochastic processes, partial differential equations, and numerical analysis

  • Strong analytical, modeling and problem solving abilities

  • Exposure to Athena, Python and C++

  • Object oriented programming skills with emphasis on numerical methods

  • Good communication skills

  • PhD, Masters or equivalent degree in a technical field from a top-tier school/program: Mathematics, Mathematical Finance, Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science

The responsibilities of the team span the full range from new model specification, going through model approval, implementation of model in library, to integration into production systems. Opportunity: The opportunity is to join our QR Spread Algo team in New York as an Associate or VP depending on experience, with a focus on models enhancing trading strategies for corporate bond portfolio transactions. Key responsibilities could include: * Development, deployment and support portfolio management strategies including factor models * Research and back-test tradeable factors through statistical portfolio construction * Enhance liquidity management of trading desk though execution models * Development of business intelligence tools including market event detection relevant to portfolio trading Written and verbal communication with Model Review Groups in order to make models pass strict in-house standards Requirements: We work in a very dynamic environment, and excellent communication skills are required in our interaction with trading, technology, and control functions. A healthy interest in good software design principles is essential. * Strong knowledge of modern financial economic theory: asset pricing, portfolio theory, factor risk models, macroeconomics. * 2 - 6 years research experience in risk premia, factor risk modeling or index/portfolio construction * An understanding of credit market structure as well as knowledge in structural and reduced-form models of credit risk is a plus. * Familiar with machine learning techniques such as auto-encoders, recurrent network such as LSTM, and convolutional networks. Essential skills: * Very strong in statistics. * Knowledge of modern techniques such as deep learning is a plus * Strong OO design skills are required, most likely obtained using C++.
