Contribute to the delivery of corporate products and services to clients in the Corporate and Investment Banking Division. Perform origination of new products and monitor business relationships in portfolios assigned to respective teams. Day-to-day responsibilities will depend on specific team assignments to include Corporate Banking, Syndications, Treasury Management or Client Derivatives. Note: Analysts/Associates will be differentiated by size and complexity of portfolio, experience and other criteria determined relevant by CIB.

CIB Portfolio Analyst will concentrate on Corporate Banking and Syndications: originations and portfolio management.

Anticipating a June, 2020 start date for this role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to assigned team by originating and processing new business, demonstrating strong technical skills such as financial analysis, credit underwriting and a solid understanding of capital markets.

  • Manage risk by ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and completing processes thoroughly and accurately, including submitting credit packages for approval, ensuring new products and services are implemented correctly and providing clients with thorough market analysis.

  • Proactively monitor an assigned client portfolio, advising on trends and forward-looking indicators such as commodity price changes or other major drivers that would impact the risk profile of the portfolio.

  • Enable complex client servicing by facilitating consistent, effective communication internally with team members and other departments to provide superior client service and effective risk management.

  • Effectively monitor, maintain and update pertinent information using Bank's contact management system and other resources to ensure excellent data integrity.

  • Develop skills in client relationship management, credit underwriting, risk management and industry and product expertise in order to contribute to team objectives and meet client's changing needs in a competitive market.

  • Acquire and utilize proficient knowledge in order to effectively educate internal associates on the purpose and benefits of assigned product area.

  • Keep abreast of changing business, market and economic developments impacting the portfolio, profitability and financial services industry in general.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics or equivalent education and related training

  • One year of experience in the financial services industry with direct experience dealing with commercial or corporate clients through commercial lending, capital markets, treasury management and/or related areas

  • Competent understanding in assigned area including corporate banking, syndications, treasury management and derivatives with experience in underwriting, structuring and closing transactions as appropriate

  • General knowledge of Capital Markets, Treasury Management, Deposits, Specialized Lending, Institutional Trust, Insurance, Sterling and International products and services

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid understanding of financial and cost accounting principles

  • Strong initiative with ability to work both independently and within a team

  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to travel, occasionally overnight

Desired Skills:

  • Master's degree in a business-related field

  • Professional accreditation in applicable fields

  • Experience in bank operations as it relates to corporate services

The Global Investment Control department directly supports Capital Group's investment professionals, implements investment decisions and facilitates the investment process. Operating from locations in North America, Europe, and Asia, core functions include order management, portfolio construction and compliance, trade support, corporate action communication and coordination, and proxy services, among others. These services support the management of equity and fixed income portfolios for retail, institutional and private clients. Within Global Investment Control, the Portfolio Implementation and Compliance team provides support for Capital's Institutional and Vflex clients. The team's primary focus is on account/fund related activity such as: cash flows, processing orders, new fund/account start-ups, portfolio manager movements, model management, drift monitoring, risk reviews, and adherence to client/firm/regulatory compliance guidelines. The team also handles ad-hoc requests through direct interactions with Portfolio Managers, Mandate Managers, and Vehicle Specialists. In performing these functions, the team works closely with other functional areas and acts as a liaison between the Investment Group, Trading, Marketing, Legal, Client Services and Core Operations. The Portfolio Implementation and Compliance team is heavily involved in the daily portfolio optimization process for Vflex, which aligns one or more "vehicle" portfolios to a "reference fund" to enable delivery of Capital Group's products to a broader client base via global distribution channels. Across several locations, the team provides end-to-end support for pre-optimization, optimization, and post optimization activities. Associates develop a deep technical understanding of VFlex to ensure effective and timely management of the portfolios. For institutional mandates, the team directly supports the Investment Group in establishing and implementing investment policy and procedures, as well as the core operational activities mentioned above. The institutional mandates are also at a critical juncture where this line of business is experiencing a high degree of change related to the introduction of a new order management platform and evolving methods for managing the portfolios, such as Vflex. In addition, the Portfolio Implementation and Compliance team participates in enterprise wide initiatives with our Information Technology partners to deliver on Capital's strategic objectives. Additional scaling is required as the Vehicle Flexible program continues to grow in scope as we deliver our products and services through an increasing number of investment vehicles. The team is also partnering with the Endor initiative which will deliver a new order management platform to be used across all major lines of business. These are part of a broader program of equity transformation initiatives that will collectively modernize and transform our capabilities for the future. The Portfolio Implementation and Compliance team is uniquely positioned to support these initiatives and benefit from ongoing improvements within our technology stack. Responsibilities: * Provide leadership and direction to the team. Serve as a positive role model and mentor to other associates while setting the tone. * Support daily operations of the VFlex portfolios and/or institutional mandates. Ensure smooth processing of daily activity while escalating issues, as appropriate. Coordinate hand-off of relevant items to otherlocations (Singapore, London). * Apply project coordination skills by leading Portfolio Implementation and Compliance components of strategic initiatives. Incorporate Portfolio Implementation and Compliance needs into overall design and partner with technology teams through the entire product lifecycle. * Identify and execute opportunities to continuously improve processes and technology to realize efficiencies and mitigate risk to enable scale. * Lead the development and enhancement of policies, procedures and controls to mitigate risk and improve efficiency. * Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of complex client activity, fund and vehicle launches. * Serve as a key point of contact for multiple departments and teams.
