The Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Finance and Business Management (F&BM) group provides financial advice to support the CIB's business strategy and helps to ensure a sound control environment. Within F&BM, the four major areas of responsibility are: Business-aligned BMs (Business Managers), the CIB Controller, Support Staff CFO, and Planning and Analysis.


Finance & Business Management's goals are to ensure sound control environments and provide financial advice to support the business strategy. Within F&BM, the Controllers organization is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and validity of the financial statements and controls over the transaction cycle; performing critical reporting functions for the organization, both financial and regulatory, as well as ensuring execution and implementation of the overall financial architecture.

Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Business Management provides strategic and operational thought leadership, analysis and project execution for the Global ECM business. The Global ECM business is an integral and highly visible part of the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB).

The ECM Business Management team sits under the Global Finance & Business Management function and acts collectively as CFO and COO for the ECM business, which originates equity products (IPOs, Follow-ons and Convertible Bonds) for the client franchise. The function is responsible for the following:

  • Providing analytical support to the ECM and CIB F&BM management teams

  • Maintaining the fee pipeline and forecast, which involves partnering with the business and controller teams to estimate the revenue impact for future transactions

  • Running competitor analysis and submitting and reconciling external league table results, as a measure of market share and wallet share for the business

  • Forecasting and analyzing headcount and expenses for the business

  • Enhancing the technology infrastructure and ensuring seamless delivery of the products and services for optimal internal user experience

  • Managing the administration of the Commitments Committee, a deal review forum and key control function for the ECM business

Position Description

As a Senior Analyst / Associate on the ECM Business Management team, you will be uniquely positioned to gain exposure to business leaders across origination, sales and capital markets in supporting a team of over 100 bankers in several locations worldwide. You will have the opportunity to learn about complex products from the market leader.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Pipeline management and fee forecasting for IB management and the central controllers team

  • Preparation of weekly regional and global reporting for the ECM regional and global heads

  • Preparation of materials for quarterly business reviews, town halls and management presentations

  • Facilitation of the annual budget planning process

  • Competitive positioning analysis for market volume and fee wallet

  • Assistance with the management of the Commitments Committee, a key control function for ECM before deals are launched to the market

  • Assistance with the preparation and management of internal audit and compliance testing

  • Thought leadership and business liaison for technology initiatives and enhancements

  • Support of ad ho c projects led by Product and Coverage business managers and by CIB Banking F&BM senior

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently

  • Enthusiastic self starter with a desire to understand the big picture as well as the details of a product

  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a dynamic, fast paced environment

  • Interest in developing product knowledge, specifically in equity products

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and relationship building skills

  • Driven to identify key areas of enhancement, with a focus on creating efficiencies, structure and control

  • Must be strong in Excel and proficient in PowerPoint
