The Children's Center at Gunstock Mountain Resort has been providing quality snowsports learning experiences for children of all ages in a fun, supportive, and safe environment for 80 years! We are now accepting applications for Children's Center Instructors for the winter season. Successful candidates must be proficient on most Gunstock terrain and surface conditions, with the world-class communication skills that our guests have come to expect.

You'll spend most of your time:

  • Using the American Teaching System, provide guests with a professional ski or snowboard learning environment that encourages skill development appropriate for the guests ability level.

  • Upon lesson assignment, meet and greet Learning Center guests in a timely and professional manner; ensure students are matched to appropriate skill level and work with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.

  • Assist students with transporting ski/ride equipment to learning terrain as needed; educate them on proper load/unload procedures for chairlifts and carpet lifts.

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of all snowsports programs offered by the Learning Center and Children's Center, as well as general knowledge of Gunstocks overall operation.

  • Continuously model safe behavior and take appropriate action to address or report hazards; follow the Skiers Responsibility Code at all times when skiing/riding at the resort.

Requirements:

Skiers

Intermediate to advanced skiing skills with ability to ski in a comfortable, open-stance parallel (hip-width stance) on all intermediate (Blue) and less challenging, groomed expert (Black) terrain. Ability to ski beginner bumps, while maintaining rhythm and speed control preferred but not required.

Snowboarders

Intermediate to advanced snowboarding skills with ability to ride confidently on all intermediate (Blue) terrain in variable conditions. Ability to ride more challenging terrain and bumps with carved turns preferred but not required.

VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Under the direction of the Safety Services Manager, Gunstock Ski Patrollers help promote and maintain the on-mountain safety of Gunstock's skiing and snowboarding guests. Patrollers are committed to providing quality, empathetic care for injured/ill guests and/or employees. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to; attend to patient evaluation, triage and provide appropriate first aid; safely transport injured guests and/or employees from the mountain to First Aid Base; maintain a strong working knowledge of lift evacuation plans and snowmobile operations; attend to on-mountain risk management duties such as identifying and marking potential skiing/riding hazards, set-up and remove fencing, rope lines and signage as needed. Position is scheduled to start in early December. Requirements: * Must be 18 years of age or older. * National Ski Patrol Outdoor Emergency Care Technician (OEC) with current CPR (BLS) certification, OR a current National Registry EMT-Basic certification with a current CPR (BLS) certification. Additional medical or ski area experience helpful. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 30% of the time; constantly able to operate radio controls, hand tools, power tools, vehicles, machinery and equipment used for mountain patrol and emergency response procedures. * Ability to ski/snowboard at an intermediate or advanced level up to 6 hours/day on all terrain in variable weather conditions and while transporting up to 50 lbs; frequently required to ski/ride in a controlled manner while pulling a rescue sled up to 200 lbs. * Frequently required to move about the mountain and resort to access injured guests and/or employees; constantly positions self to administer first aid or emergency services to injured guests and/or employees. * Required to move equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 25lbs regularly, up to 50lbs frequently, and up to 100lbs occasionally. The employee is constantly required to visually inspect, detect, and assess patients, work areas, medical supplies, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
