Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

Position: Childcare Supervisor

The Childcare Supervisor develops, implements, and evaluates an Individual Educational Plan for each student; plans for and delivers curriculum in classroom.

Regent Family Residence is a transitional family shelter located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where residents learn essential skills that enable them to meet the challenges of everyday life. Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum an Associate 's degree in Social Science, Applied Health Science or Human Services and at least two years teaching or childcare experience with a similar population.

Childcare Supervisor Principal Responsibilities:

• Manage instructional environment in a manner that fosters learning and growth. Direct classroom activities on a daily basis.

• Instruct childcare assistants.

• Evaluate student progress on an ongoing basis, maintaining necessary records.

• Write annual goals, behavioral objectives, and intervention strategies for students.

• Prepare daily activity schedule and coordinate with other disciplines.

• Assess developmental functioning and learning skills of students in all areas, at regularly planned intervals.

• Consult and interface with colleagues on team on all phases of student program.

• Make parent contacts, provide for transition of instruction to home, and assure parent partnership, make home visits, and invite parents for school visits.

• Maintain daily lesson plan book which displays instruction in all content areas.
