The Mount Sinai Health System is currently seeking a Full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Morningside/West.

The Child and Family Institute Outpatient Department (CFI) of the Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital has a full-time clinical psychology faculty position for direct clinical care available in the child and adolescent outpatient department (OPD), and includes assisting with the clinical direction of the CFI-OPD Futures program to address adolescent substance use and trauma in a general outpatient psychiatry setting. The CFI-OPD serves families in the neighboring communities of the Upper West Side and Harlem as well as throughout New York City. Children and adolescents receiving services at the CFI-OPD suffer from a variety of mood, behavior and psychiatric disorders including depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD and disruptive behavior disorders. The position will have an active role in the teaching and supervision of psychology trainees enrolled in the accredited training program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct psychiatric assessment and ongoing psychological treatment, including individual, family, and group therapies

  • Complete documentation and billing in a timely fashion as required by compliance, including signing off on documentation generated by trainees

  • Ensure compliance with standards of regulatory agencies

  • Serve as clinical coordinator of the Futures program

  • Manage the flow of intakes based on the program's caseload capacity

  • Assist in the assignment of cases to clinicians

  • Lead and manage the weekly Futures risk conference

  • Lead and coordinate the weekly Futures didactic series

  • Review and sign off on urine toxicology reports

  • Assist with naloxone distribution as needed

  • Supervise Futures psychology fellow

  • Supervise the Futures Clinical Research Coordinator

  • Attend weekly CFI-OPD staff meetings

  • Meet with Futures Medical Director biweekly to discuss risk management and program administration

  • Meet with the CFI-OPD Clinical Director monthly to facilitate coordination between Futures and CFI-OPD administration

  • Meet with the Futures PI weekly to discuss administrative issues and grant requirements

  • Meet with the SAMHSA GPO monthly to report on service delivery progress

  • Interview and recommend trainees and staff for hire as needed

  • Maintain and update training materials for staff and trainees

  • Assist in managing clinical crises as needed

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in child, clinical, school, or counseling psychology

  • Completion of APA-approved clinical pre-doctoral internship

  • New York State psychology license

  • Excellent clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and adults

  • Experience with high-risk children and adolescents

  • Experience with treating substance use disorders

  • Experience in providing evidence-based treatment (DBT, CBT, PMT, ERP)

  • Experience supervising psychology trainees

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups

Compensation range from 120K to 140K (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialties, historical productivity, historical collections, and hospital/community need. As such, an actual salary may fall closer to one or the other end of the range, and in certain circumstances, may wind up being outside of the listed salary range. The salary range listed is for full-time employment and does not include bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits.
