Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist

The Edmund N. Ervin Pediatric Center (EEPC) at MaineGeneral Health is seeking a full-time, Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our innovative, inter-disciplinary team dedicated to providing a full range of specialized services to children and families. You would join a team that includes developmental/behavioral pediatricians, child psychologists, clinical social workers and occupational, physical and speech therapists.

Details and Requirements:

  • Assume responsibility for the provision of comprehensive child psychiatry services, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation, and counseling and education of patients and families.

  • Participate as the medical consultant in multi-disciplinary team evaluations, as needed.

  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with other providers and staff, attending patient care meetings, communicating relevant and needed information, participating in patient rounds with other health team members and providing direction for others in the care of patients as needed.

  • Work with our partner primary care medical practices to provide integrated care to our patients.

  • Must be board certified or eligible for certification in Child Psychiatry

  • BLS for Healthcare Provider required within three months of hire

  • Must be licensed or immediately license-eligible in Maine with an active DEA number

About the Pediatric Center:

Since opening in 1958, the EEPC has provided comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments and therapeutic interventions for a range of childhood difficulties including speech, motor, emotional and behavioral. In addition to developmental assessments, our staff provides comprehensive assessments of the medical and behavioral needs of children entering temporary state protective custody. Located in Augusta, Maine's state capital, our staff are very involved in programs that help develop medical and mental health policy. The psychiatrist will have the opportunity to work with graduate students, medical students and family medicine residents.

Ervin Pediatric Center team at MaineGeneral Medical Center is seeking a board certified or board eligible Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician to join the family and child oriented outpatient pediatric evaluation and treatment center. The pediatrician will serve as a member of the developmental, behavioral and foster care teams, working with children up to age 13. This is a Monday-Friday position with no call. The Pediatrician will be: * skilled at assessment and treatment of children with neuro developmental disabilities * able to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team with Child Psychologists, LCSWs, Occupational and Physical Therapists and Speech Therapists * skilled at medical (pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic) management, including but not limited to sleep cycle disturbance, enuresis and encopresis, violently aggressive behavior and impulsivity and inattention * able to provide psychopharmacologic medication management along with our child psychiatrists on staff * able to work closely with our OT/PT and Speech providers to provide care to children with cerebral palsy, hypertonia and hypotonia, disorders of balance and coordination and with fine motor difficulties managing independent feeding and toileting Benefits include: * Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance * Educational loan repayment * CME allowance and days off to attend conferences * Relocation assistance About the Pediatric Center: Since opening in 1958, the Center has provided comprehensive interdisciplinary assessments and therapeutic interventions for a range of childhood difficulties including speech, motor, emotional and behavioral.
