Provides supervision of children attending the child watch program.

1.Supervises and interacts with children at play. Organizes age appropriate on-going activities.
2.Develops positive relationships with children and parents.
3.Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
4.Maintains a clean and sanitized environment. Returns supplies to proper places after use.
5.Assures parents are signing in children properly and presenting identification.
6.Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures.
7.Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
8.Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
9.Obtains a substitute attendant when needed.

15 years of age or older

Demonstrated ability to provide child care
6 months or more work experience preferred

Ability to relate to, supervise, and provide age appropriate activities to children, ages 1 month to 6 years.

Possesses mature judgment and sound decision-making.

Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor.

Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA membership and programs.

VIEW JOBS 3/21/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-19T00:00 Nature of Work A Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) is a specially trained health professional that provides advice and support to early childhood program staff through education and the identification of site-specific health and safety needs. The CCHC can provide support by working with participants and individual children and families by delivering comprehensive technical assistance for the program staff through: * Onsite and telephone guidance and consultation; * Staff training on health and safety licensing requirements and evidence based best practices; * Assistance in the development of health and safety related policies and procedures; * Referrals to community resources; * Information to share with parents and children; and, * Identification of an internal Health and Safety Specialist in the early care and education program. Note: This position is 24-30 hours per week and funded through First Things First and Arizona Department of Health Services grants and is contingent upon continued funding. Under general supervision, coordinates Coconino County Public Health Services District First Things First Program and acts as Child Care Health Consultant for early childhood programs throughout the county, performs related work as assigned. Typical Duties (Illustrative Only) * Plans, develops and presents health education and training programs and lessons * Evaluates programs * Develops and/or revises curriculum modules as necessary * Participates in the development of marketing and promotional goals and strategies * Refers clients to other support services such as medical evaluation and treatment, social services, and employment services, as appropriate * Prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials * Coordinates and collaborates with community-based organizations, public agencies, coalitions, schools and other appropriate facilities to implement the health education programs * Maintains accurate records, data, and documentation of all program results for program updating and evaluation * May assist in the coordination of activities of consultants, subcontractors, agencies, schools, and other providers involved in specific programs * May assist in writing grant proposals and identifying funding for programs * May lead, guide and train staff/student employees, interns and/or volunteers performing related work * May conduct field inspections to ensure compliance according to performance standards * May participate in the recruitment of volunteers or interns Essential functions of this position include but are not limited to: driving; working with and around others; vision acuity (far) and color vision for driving; communicating with staff, clients, etc; lifting/pulling up to 20lbs. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of a bachelor's degree and be a pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, pediatric or community health nurse. OR A health professional with a bachelor's degree and expertise in mental health, nutrition, health education, oral health, environmental health, and/or emergency management. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain an Arizona driver's license by date of hire and maintain it throughout employment. Must possess current CPR certification. Certification as a Child Care Health consultant is required within six months of employment. Requires extensive travel throughout Coconino County and northern Arizona tribal lands. Must obtain fingerprint clearance card. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; proficient computer skills; ability to apply public health principles; provide leadership and guidance to child care providers with the goal of improving health and safety at the respective facilities through education and training. Preferred qualifications include: public health experience, Child Care Health Consultant Certification; bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Navajo.
