POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon County's Social Services Department is recruiting an innovative full-time Child Support Supervisor dedicated to making a difference in the community. This position is part of the department's leadership team and is responsible for overseeing the provision of services and case management of the Child Support Programs.

As an employee of the Department of Social Services and Marathon County, you will play a crucial role in managing and safeguarding confidential and sensitive information. This position requires a high level of impartiality, integrity, neutrality, and confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Services or a related field and a minimum of 4 years of experience within the child support field. Other combinations of related education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job may be considered.

NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards; OR ability to obtain reliable transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Oversees the daily operation of the child support program, including call center and case management duties completed by specialists working in teams.

  • Creates and implements methods to maximize efficiency in programs, proper protocol for workflow and initiates quality improvement plans within internal operations and through a system wide approach.

  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal mandates, laws, and established protocols.

  • Provides oversight to annual child support program fiscal and program audits. This includes extensive assurance of security and confidentiality matters relating to program participants.

  • Writes for and oversees grants to support program operations, ensures proper programmatic and financial reporting for awarded grants.

  • Oversees program budget and expenses, including oversight of contracts with partner agencies and providers to the program.

  • Regularly monitors performance to ensure meeting federal performance standards.

  • Presents child support related topics to stakeholders and partners.

  • Maintains strong collaborative relationships with court and community partners.

  • Interviews and selects new employees, provides instruction and direction, plans, coordinates, assigns and reviews work; mentors and coaches staff, acts on problems and concerns, approves leave, evaluates performance, and recommends discharge, discipline, promotion opportunities.

  • Active participant of the management team to ensure that the work environment represents an alignment with agency and county vision and strategies and is supportive of a positive work culture.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to oversee budgets and financial reports related to child support programs.

  • Ability to train others; advise and provide interpretation regarding application of policies, procedures, and standards in specific situations.

  • Ability to effectively resolve customer complaints; models and supports de-escalation techniques for staff implementation.

  • Ability to utilize a variety of reference, descriptive and advisory data.

  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to provide coaching, feedback, and support for the development of others.

  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations for direction and planning of programs.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.

  • Ability to prioritize duties based on emergent situations and be responsive to the greatest need.

  • Ability to accurately document in detail any findings and actions related to the agency's program.

  • Knowledge of courtroom procedures.

  • Ability to make decisions quickly when necessary.

  • Ability to work and thrive in a stressful and adversarial environment.

  • Ability to exercise compassion and sympathy to individuals who are or may be paying or receiving child support.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and resources.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, outside contacts, clients, and the public.

  • Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.

COMPENSATION:

Starting annual salary: $62,816 + Marathon County benefits: https://www.marathoncounty.gov/about-us/careers/employee-benefits
