BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION

Child Support Attorney IVs perform legal activities, which involves supervising the preparation of cases for court, directing the drafting of legislation and representing the agency in both administrative and district court.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS

The position involves preparation and filing of pleadings and trial of cases in child support related hearings in district and administrative courts. Duties will also include consultation and negotiation with other attorneys and customers of Oklahoma Child Support Services, and interpretation of laws, regulations, opinions of the court and policy. Position will train and assist staff with preparation of legal documents and ensure their compliance with ethical considerations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's)

Knowledge of legal principles and their applications; of legal research methods; of the scope of Oklahoma statutory law and the provisions of the Oklahoma Constitution; of the principles of administrative and constitutional law; of trial and administrative hearing procedures; and of the rules of evidence; and skill in performing research, analyzing, appraising and applying legal principles, facts and precedents to legal problems; presenting explanation of legal matters, statements of facts, law and argument clearly and logically in written and oral form; and in drafting legal instruments and documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Active membership in the Oklahoma Bar Association and four (4) years of experience in the practice of law, including three (3) years experience as a child support enforcement attorney.

This position may be filled at an Alternate Hiring Level as a Child Support Services Attorney III (beginning salary $4966.50 monthly), Child Support Services Attorney II (beginning salary $4620.00 monthly), or as a Child Support Services Attorney I (beginning salary $4400.00 monthly), dependent on Child Support or Family Law experience and minimum qualifications as per State policy.

NOTES

A conditional offer of employment to final candidate will be contingent upon a favorable background check and a substance abuse screening.

Veteran's preference points do not apply to this position.

This is a full-time unclassified state position with full state retirement and insurance benefits, including paid health, dental, life, and disability insurance. Annual leave of 10 hours per month and sick leave of 10 hours per month begin accruing immediately.

BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION This is the leadership level where employees provide direct supervision to lower level Adult Protective Services Specialists. TYPICAL FUNCTIONS Employees serving as direct supervisors interview and recommend hiring of adult protective services staff; maintain personnel records and complete performance evaluations; orient new staff and develop and administer in-service training programs to supplement the APS New Worker Academy; guide staff in caseload management; and may supervise lower level APS staff in a multi-county area. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA's) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of supervisory principles and practices; of laws, rules, regulations, legislation, policies and procedures as they pertain to the state administration of adult protective services and the investigation of APS referrals; of community resources; of human development stages, including disabilities and other physical and mental dysfunctions of adults; of social work theory and practice; of emotional, physical, and mental needs of incapacitated adults and their families; of courtroom terminology and procedure; of cultural diversity; of the theory of secondary trauma; and of interviewing and investigative techniques. Ability is required to provide crisis intervention, including making decisions and advising staff in life and death situations; to gather necessary information to determine the needs of the incapacitated adult; to manage a caseload; to manage a workload effectively; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to provide courtroom testimony; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; to develop, evaluate and modify an APS service plan on an ongoing basis; and to supervise the work of others. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of: * A master's degree in a behavioral science; * OR a bachelor's degree in a behavioral science and one year of experience in professional social work; * OR a bachelor's degree and two years of professional social work. * PLUS two years of professional social work experience in adult protective services or child welfare services.
