You may be the perfect fit as a team member on the Community Resource Unit. We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing Family Engagement Social Caseworker to join our team.

The purpose of the Community Resource Unit/ Family Engagement facilitators/mediators is to provide facilitation for all types of family engagement meetings including Family Safety and Resource Team meetings, Family Unity Meetings, Family Group conferences and Permanency Round tables. This position also provides mediation to families including parent/child conflict mediation services. The family engagement facilitators and mediators provide the services of facilitation and mediation to all types of cases including both in home cases as well as cases in which children have been placed out of home in both child protection and adolescent services/youth in conflict. The Family Engagement facilitators/mediators' role includes facilitation, documentation sent to meeting participants as well as in the Trails database, scheduling of family engagement meetings and mediation and preparation of family meeting participants.

Family Engagement facilitators work across the agency with all other child welfare units and adolescent teams as well as families, children/youth, caregivers, community partners, attorneys and supports to the family. They must be able to work with families in highly stressful situations, manage complex group dynamics, assess safety of meeting participants and remain impartial throughout the process. Family Engagement facilitators/mediators are required to work outside of normal business hours.

Details

Specifically, this person:

  • Facilitates family engagement meetings

  • Provides mediation to families, youth, supports, caregivers as needed

  • Maintains impartiality

  • Documents notes from all family meetings/mediation and provides these to all participants which may include the Court

  • Organizes/schedules family engagement meetings and mediation to best meet the group's schedule

  • Meets with parents, children/youth, caregivers and supports as necessary to prepare them for a family group conference and/or mediation

  • Meets regularly with caseworkers problem solving engagement strategies

  • Uses critical thinking in the facilitated meetings, helping the group move to decision-making and planning

  • Communicates regularly with all meeting participants

To Qualify for a Caseworker II:

  • Completion of the State Training Academy

  • At least one year of experience in case management in either a public or private agency, after obtaining a Bachelor's Degree

  • A Master's Degree in Human Behavior Sciences can substitute for the required experience.

  • An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked. A successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
