Child Nutrition - 4 Hour Shipping And Receiving Clerk

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Child Nutrition Shipping & Receiving Clerk performs inventory management for all incoming and outgoing food & non-food products in the High School Kitchen.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Accepts and checks in all ordered food and non-food products upon delivery, ensuring invoicing data is accurate and complete.

• Ensures products are delivered according to food safety standards, including temperature regulation and product quality guidelines. Notifies CNS Supervisor if product is not acceptable and/or if it needs to be returned to the distributor.

• Notifies CNS Supervisor when direct ship and special order products are low in inventory and need to be prioritized for ordering purposes.

• Communicate directly with the CNS Supervisor to ensure needs are being met with regards to delivery and rotation of requested products. Alerts CNS Supervisor of ordering or delivering concerns.

• Work with the CNS Leader to complete monthly inventory of all food & non-food items.

• Coordinates the movement of products from the loading dock freezer to kitchen storage with the kitchen supervisor as needed.

• Work closely with the Sycamore Pony/Food Transporter by communicating items that need to be transferred to other locations.

• Complete daily product transfer logs when products are moved to other school buildings. Transfer logs to be submitted to the CNS Associate and must include vendor item number, item description, amount transferred, and cost per case.

• Routinely communicates pertinent information requested by CNS Director, Field Supervisor, Associate, or Supervisors, in a timely manner. Effective communication required for all areas associated with the position.

• Coordinates equipment usage for special functions, catering and off-site events with Sycamore Administrators, CNS Director, Field Specialist, PTO leaders, CNS Supervisor, and others as needed.

• Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of storage areas, including hands on cleaning and the movement of pallets.

• Provides support as a substitute in the rotation of daily duties for food preparation, cashiering, serving, dishes, and cleaning of assigned work areas, when necessary.

• All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to use the electric pallet lift. Proficiency in Google Docs, Gmail, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

Must stay current with HACCP manual standards of practice, and routinely document accurate data in all pertinent logs. Must be able to manage time appropriately to complete job tasks effectively on a daily basis while allowing for time for unexpected issues to occur. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, students and administrators.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

This position is extremely active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the work day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. The employee may be required to operate/drive a truck. Although a CDL is not required, a valid driver's license and proof of insurance will be required in addition to possible other requirements per Sycamore Transportation Director.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The temperature where the employee will be working may range from extreme cold (in the freezer) to extreme hot (a non-air conditioned loading dock) for long periods of time. Employees are expected to dress accordingly.
