Position Summary:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Food & Nutrition, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or related field field desirable.
Applicants should have at least five years' experience performing nutritional analysis and menu planning, administrative or supervisory experience in school food service, institutional or contract food service programs or restaurant management; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in this position.
Certification Level 3 or higher from the School Nutrition Association is desirable.

Reports to: Child Nutrition Director
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and perform nutrition and food cost analysis
Supervise the procurement and delivery of food items, supplies and equipment with a focus on Farm to School Procurement.
Implement standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements and standards.
Establish and oversee standard operating procedures for receiving, storing, and inventorying food and supplies based on sound principles of management.
Establish and oversee standard operating procedures for preparing and serving menu items based on sound principles of management.
Select, train, and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
Create an atmosphere for employee productivity and satisfaction in the workplace; implement organizational techniques to enhance job skills that provide maximum efficiency.
Fills in at schools and/or central kitchen as needed to ensure meal service to students is uninterrupted.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of National School Meal Programs and Child Nutrition Program regulations and
Thorough understanding of procedures in purchasing, receiving, storage and inventorying food and supplies
Skill in oral and written communications, presentation and human relations and ability to work effectively with students, staff, district administration and parents.
Knowledge of fiscal and managerial controls designed to affect economy in food service operations and ability to establish training programs and develop and instruct personnel in standard operating procedures.
Working knowledge of normal office technical programs such as email, Microsoft word/excel, PowerPoint and nutrition analysis software.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material, the ability to adjust focus and depth perception. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift to 50 lbs.

USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution with a matching 6% monthly employer contribution. Vested after five years.
TECHNOLOGY: District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and/or desktop for certified staff.
