Support the psychosocial needs of children and families as a Child-Life Specialist at New York's #1 hospital (U.S. News & World Report, 2018-2019. Join a high-functioning team of professionals specially trained in patient stresses, responses and emotional needs, and bring new meaning to multidisciplinary excellence.

In this role, you will work in at the David Koch Center to provide pre-surgical, day of and post surgical support and teaching to pediatric patients and their families.

This is a full time, day shift position Monday-Friday ( shifts are start time of 6:30 AM or 8:30 AM based on department needs) Some weekend/holiday coverage

Preferred Criteria

  • 1-2 years paid professional experience with hospitalized children

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development or closely related field

  • Child Life Council verified internship hours (minimum 480 hours)

  • Certified Child Life Specialist

  • Knowledge of child development, medical terminology, developmental/therapeutic play\

In this role, you will work specifically in Pediatric Inpatient intermediary Care. In 2020, the top five-and-a-half floors of the David H. Koch Center will become home to the Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns, the first of its kind in the tristate area, offering compassionate, personalized care to term and pre-term infants and their families. The 44,000 square-foot NICU will feature 60 private/semi-private neonatal intensive care beds, which will offer state-of-the-art care. It is set to be the first facility in New York City to have dedicated on site MRI capabilities and an operating room.
