Job Summary

The person in this position works under general supervision to observe and control the behavior of students and non-students; to provide for the supervision and protection of students, personnel, property and equipment on a school campus. Primary responsibilities of the position are to:

  • Conduct a preschool program in accordance with the goals and objectives of Moorpark Unified School District and any related preschool programs. Maintain compliance with school, district, county, state and federal regulations.

  • Serve as a site supervisor; assist the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services and Director of Special Education by relieving them of Administrative detail and taking the lead in special assignments/projects; oversee the day to day operations of the preschool.

  • Plan and conduct a daily program of supervision and appropriate learning experiences to children in a comfortable, secure atmosphere which will assist preschoolers to make a satisfactory transition from home to school.

  • Create a positive environment for educational growth based on student needs; plan and arrange field trips within the guidelines established by the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services and Director of Special Education; establish and maintain standards of student behavior.

  • Monitor progress of students using appropriate data collection and testing materials; train and direct classroom assistants; provide direction and oversee the activities of parent volunteers.

  • Conduct effective parent education; make home visits as needed, confer with parents about enrollment, health information, and student problems; serve on advisory committees; and provide information concerning nutrition, basic health care and available social assistance.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's or higher degree.

  • 12 semester units in ECE or child development.

  • 3 semester units supervised field experience.

  • Or- - Associate or higher degree or 60 semester units.

  • 24 semester units of ECE or child development including 3 core areas of "CUR", "CFC", and "CGD".

  • 6 more semester units in administration and supervision.

  • 2 more semester units in adult supervision.

  • 350 days of experience - including at least 100 days supervising adults - in last 4 years.

The written test will be given AS NEEDED (picture ID required). Late arrivals will not be admitted for testing. No cell phones, no calculator.
