PERSONNEL: Classified JOB DESCRIPTION:

Instructional Aide Assist in the operation of a designated school, class or function and the supervision of pupils. Examples of Duties: •Perform classroom clerical duties such as typing, duplicating materials, taking roll and keeping attendance records; •Assist small groups of pupils with materials previously presented or prepared by the teacher; •Operate office and audio-visual equipment; •Keep routine records; •Attend workshops and inservice meetings, when appropriate; •Maintain classroom area in a neat and orderly manner; •Care of and account for classroom equipment and supplies; •Prepare educational materials for the classroom teacher or for presentation to students; •Perform clerical duties to relieve classroom teacher for regular teaching responsibilities; •May assist in the testing of pupils and grading of papers; •Support the certificated teacher's goals and philosophy; •Prepare and serve food and, where appropriate, assist students in eating; •Keep an open line of communication with the teacher concerning students and the program; •Oversee and supervise students during educational activities in both regular and Specials Education classrooms as well as on field trips; •Perform other duties, as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of: •Basic math concepts; •Appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, grammar; •Concepts of child behavior and development; •The IEP process; •Controlling and motivating exceptional children bility to: •Be able to accept varied work assignments. •Operate necessary equipment; •Direct group activities with students; •Handle strenuous physical activity involved in work with small children; •Maintain a positive attitude toward self and students; •Follow oral and written directions accurately; •Pass a physical examination and maintain good health; •Work with pre-schoolers to high school students and parents or guardians effectively; •Administer clear and consistent discipline; •Control and motivate difficult children/adolescents •Maintain emotional stability and confidentiality. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods.

  Instructional Aide REQUIRED EDUCATION: •High school diploma or equivalent. •Completion of necessary education as required by state of California to work in desired position.
  
  REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND/OR CREDENTIALS: •Type C California Drivers License unless waived by Superintendent.
