Job Summary

The person in this position works under general supervision to observe and control the behavior of students and non-students; to provide for the supervision and protection of students, personnel, property and equipment on a school campus. Primary responsibilities of the position are to: - Assists with the development and implementation of a program, working plan and schedule which meets the needs of the preschoolers and their families; implements a culturally and linguistically appropriate learning environment for preschoolers; - Assists with planning, implementing and evaluating indoor and outdoor environments, activities and routines in the following curricular areas: art, literature and language, dramatic play, water/sand play, blocks and construction, manipulatives, puzzles and games, music, computers, and science; - Substitutes for the Child Development Specialist in his/her absence by carrying out all programmatic instructional plans and routines; supervises children in the classroom, on the playground, on the school campus, on field trips, when entering and leaving the center, and during fire and earthquake drills; - Understands child development and the needs of the developing preschool child; assists teach with development assessment, learning goals and objectives of all children; implements activities to facilitate each child's attainment of his/her specific goals and objectives; - Assists in developing and implementing conflict management and problem solving strategies with children; implements positive discipline techniques at all times;

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE - A Child Development Associate Teacher Permit is required. Those candidates with equivalent coursework in child development and preschool experience must be willing to make an application to the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing for the required permit.

  • Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver's License

  • Pediatric CPR and pediatric first aid certificates.

The written test will be given Friday, April 26, 2024 at 9:15 am or 2:15 pm (picture ID required). Late arrivals will not be admitted for testing. No cell phones, no calculator.
