Job Requirements

What we are looking for

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Hold a High School Diploma/GED

  • Previous experience working with young children

  • Meet state educational licensing and additional center/school requirements

  • A passion for child care and making a difference in the lives of young children

We do give preference to child care teachers with the following:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • CDA or Associate's degree in Early Childhood education or related field

  • Have 12 months of professional teaching experience in a classroom

DFPS accomplishes this responsibility by employing over 12,000 workers who live up to the agency's Mission, Vision, & Values in service to the 27 million citizens of Texas. DFPS is not only a qualifying organization for the Service Loan Forgiveness Program, which forgives the remaining balance on college student Direct Loans after making 120 qualifying monthly payments, but also offers excellent health benefits, special discounts on many products and services through the Discount Purchase Program, a lifetime monthly retirement annuity as well as Texa$aver 401(k) and 457 Programs under the Employees Retirement System of Texas. Applicants must provide proof of driving record and license.Initial Selection Criteria: Successful completion of any associated on-line assessment.Child Care Investigator Specialist I: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university Child Care Investigator Specialist II: Employed as a Child Care Licensing Investigator I for 9 months AND have received Child Care Licensing Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Care Investigator II OR previous experience as a Child Care Investigator II in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.Child Care Investigator Specialist III: Employee as a Child Care Licensing Investigator II for 9 months AND have received Child Care Licensing Advanced Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Investigator III OR previous experience as a Child Care Investigator III in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.Child Care Investigator Specialist IV: Employed as a Child Care Licensing Investigator III for 24 months AND have received Child Care Licensing Senior Advanced Specialist Certification OR currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Investigator IV OR previous experience as a Child Care Investigator IV in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.Additional Information: This position may be filled at any level from a CCL Investigator I to CCL Investigator IV.
