Child Care Teacher Assistant

Overview

Responsible for assisting in the classrooms with the overall functions in a providing a warm, safe and nurturing learning experience while communicating the goals, guidelines, and standards of the center.

• NC DHHS Division of Child Development Criminal Background Letter/Qualifying Letter

• Workforce Letter or education verification (official or unofficial transcript)

Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED, required. Credentials EDU119 or equivalency as defined by DHHS Education Workforce, preferred.

• Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: NC CDL License, preferred. CPR/First Aid (American Red Cross/American Heart) within 2 months of hire, required. ITS SIDS within 2 months of hire for those working with children up to 2 years of age, required. BSAC (Basic School Age) for those working with school age children, required. DHHS NC Division of Child Development Criminal Background letter, required.

• Additional Skills Required:

• DHHS NC Division of Child Development Criminal Background letter and Workforce Letter within 45 days of hire.

• BSAC required for those working with school age children and CDL if driving the bus if applicable.

• Maintain training hours requirements as outlined for substitutes by regulatory compliance.

• Additional Skills Preferred: The ability to work a variety of work schedules and to work effectively in all classrooms within the centers.
