The Child Care Specialist provides and ensures supervision for all children who are registered into the child care facility, supervising and conducting recreational activities for children. Supervision must be provided while maintaining a professional, friendly, safe and secure environment. The Specialist conducts guest activities & workshops. The Specialist also performs administrative duties as assigned. Additionally, this team member communicates, coordinates and cooperates with all guests and visitors utilizing the resort's facilities, providing feedback on owner's/guest's concerns and comments to Supervisor. Provides a warm, caring environment for children 4 years of age and older.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Greets and registers children from parents, noting any special instructions that parents may provide.
Maintains daily registration log.
Ensures continuous monitoring and multi-tasking when the room has several children; demonstrates ability to care for up to five (5) children at once.
Learns and facilitates all indoor and outdoor activities.
Offers entertainment to all guests; demonstrates creativity and flexibility with children and in all activities.
Maintains a playful, organized, professional environment; interacts and engages with children at play.
Consoles upset or distressed children; immediately contacts parents of distressed or upset children.
Ensures and maintains safety and security standards.
Ensures child leaves with parent or authorized individual.
Offers snacks and beverages to children; set up snack area and maintains snacks stocked throughout the day.
Maintains adequate inventory levels for the department to effectively operate (i.e., crayons, pencils, napkins, spoons, etc.).
Prepares play materials and ensures that play areas, equipment and toys are safe and sanitary.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment and toys.
Picks up and cleans around room throughout the day as needed.
Maintains a cohesive working relationship with the Sales, Marketing and Operations departments, personnel and team members.
Resolves customer service challenges.
Accomplishs goals and objectives provided by supervisor.
Performs various duties as delegated by the Activities Supervisor, with attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperation and work with a minimum of supervision.
Achieves personal and departmental written objectives determined throughout the year.
Communicates as needed with management.
Operates office machinery (i.e., computer, copy machine, fax machine).
Possesses a working knowledge of local/regional history, myths, culture and tradition.
Provides superior customer service in accordance with the Company DRIven to Excellence standards.
Supports and upholds the vision and philosophies of the management team at DRI.
Completes all required company trainings and compliance courses as assigned.
Adheres to company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
A minimum of nine (9) months of experience in the child care field required.
No supervisory experience required.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS
CPR/AED Certification (Adult, Infant, and Child Rescue).
First Aid Certification.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions as well as knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices. Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.
