Cubs Child Care Aide/Nursery Aide- Full and Part Time, Winter Seasonal and Year Round, Stowe Mountain Resort

Located in the Adventure Center at Stowe Mountain Resort, Cubs is a licensed child care program with experienced and nurturing staff, located at Spruce Peak base area. Our day includes playtime, arts and crafts, songs, stories, games, outdoor play and rest/quiet time. We are looking for passionate child care professionals, and those looking to start their career in the industry, to join our amazing team. We have a variety of positions available including but not limited to Teacher, Teacher Associate, and the entry-level role of Teacher Assistant. In general all our roles are responsible for:

  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of children in their care. Teachers and Teacher Associates - must be able to care for four (4) infants, four (4) toddlers or five (5) preschoolers at one time.

  • Report to work on time when scheduled.

  • Report to work in proper dress or uniform and groomed appropriately.

  • Observe all employee rules and regulations and applicable safety standards.

  • Demonstrate positive attitude, especially in area of customer service.

Each different role has additional specific requirements and duties:

Teacher AssistantTeacher AssociateTeacherMinimum Qualifications

A teacher associate is at least eighteen (18) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:

  • At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) Certificate or Two (2) Certificate; or

  • At least a current CDA (Child Development Associate) and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

  • At least a State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

  • At least successful completions of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or lower; or

  • At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school age care and education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.

A teacher associate is at least twenty (20) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:

  • At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Three (3) Certificate; or

  • At least an associate degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

  • At least a Certificate of Completion from the Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program;

or

  • At least a Child Care Certificate from the Community College of Vermont and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger;

or

  • At least successful completion of twenty-one (21) college credits with an early childhood or school age focus and at least (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.

A teacher is at least twenty (20) years of age and meets one of the following qualifications:

  • At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Four (4) or a B Certificate; or

  • At least a bachelor degree from an accredited college with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, Special Education with a birth to eight (8) years of age focus, or Child and Family Services and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

  • At least a bachelor degree from an accredited college with at least successful completion of thirty (30) college credits with and early childhood or school age focus and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or

  • Hold at least a current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education.

Specific Duties

  • Ability to perform physical activities that include lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.

  • Ability to perform light work (defined as exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects).

  • Skiing and Snowboarding are not part of your job

  • Organize and participate in games, read to children, and teach simple painting, drawing, handwork, songs and similar activities.

  • Directs children in eating, resting and toileting.

  • Help children develop habits of caring for own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books.

  • Maintain Discipline.

  • Help children get dressed to go outdoors and remove outer garments when they return.

  • Serve meals and refreshments to children and regulate rest periods.

  • Assist in preparing food and cleaning of facility.

  • Take reservations and assist with daycare center check in and out procedures.

  • Respond to guest questions and comments.

  • Follow company and departmental safety procedures and policy.

  • Help with outside playtime and outside chores.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule Requirements

  • Expect to work 40 hours (4-5 days) per week.

  • Child Care hours of operation for staffing are 7:00am-5:00pm.

  • The center is open for Child Drop-off begins at 7:30am and closes after Child Pick-up at 4:30pm.

  • During busy periods, you may be required to work additional hours/days per week.

  • Due to the nature of business levels, you will be required to work weekends and holidays. We will attempt to offer consecutive days off and accommodate special scheduling requests, but cannot guarantee that all requests will be granted.

  • Reliable transportation to work is required to ensure arrival at your designated work location at the scheduled time ready to begin working. Please keep in mind that driving to the resort is on hilly roads which are often affected by the weather (i.e. in winter roads are often snow packed and icy).
