Summary

The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is surrounding area for Carlisle Barracks. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

This position is located at McConnell Youth Center.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS POSITION IS FOR INTERMITTENT (FLEXIBLE) SUMMER HIRE POSITIONS.
Responsibilities

Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth ranging from 6 weeks to 18 years.
Helps prepare, arrange and maintain indoor and outdoor activities.
Uses prepared curriculum and program materials.
Interacts with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
Assists in providing and planning activities for program participants.
Interacts professionally with staff members, parents, and local installation command personnel.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
All required background checks of AR 215-3, must be successfully completed and maintained including Child and Youth National Agency Check with Inquires (CNACI); Backgro9und checks will be re-verified every 5 years.
Successful completion of Annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
Must be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current ARMY and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Child and Youth Program Assistant positions are:

To qualify for the Child and Youth Program Assistant (Entry Level), candidates must:
1.Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
2.Be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

To qualify for the Child and Youth Program Assistant (Skill Level), candidate must:
1.Meet Entry Level qualifications AND
2. a. Possess 3 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus Army or other military service Entry Level Training as evidences by service-issued Certificate of Completion OR
b. 6 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus 9 semester hours of college credit with course content directly related to the age group to which assigned (Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Special Education, Youth Development, Secondary Education, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or directly-related behavioral or cultural science, etc) General psychology/sociology coursework is not qualifying. One year vocational certificate in child care or equivalent to other child/youth programs meets the intent of the education requirement.

To qualify for the Child and Youth Program Assistant (Target Level),
1.Meet Entry Level qualifications AND
2. a. Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus Army or other military service Foundation Level Training as evidenced by service-issued Certificate of Completion OR
b. Possess 18 months of experience working in a group program with children or youth, plus an associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours of college credit which included a major course study (24 semester hours) with content directly related to the age group to which assigned (Early Childhood Education/Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Youth Development, Special Education, Youth Development, Secondary Education, Human Development, Youth Program Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or directly-related behavioral or cultural science, etc) General psychology/sociology coursework is not qualifying. OR
c. A bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours which included a major course of study (24 semester hours) with content as indicated above. OR
d. Possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the age group of the position to which assigned: Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, Military School Age Credential, Army Youth Practicum, or other nationally recognized Youth Development Credential.

This position requires that a high school diploma or GED equivalent must be uploaded to be considered for the Entry Level position.
