Overview

The Child and Family Clinician leads a multi-disciplinary team in supporting children who are referred through social service, probation or mental health departments. The primary goal of our program is to provide children and families with services that will ensure safety, stability, and permanency. Seneca's clinical practice model integrates attachment theory to build healthy relationships, learning theory to replace negative behaviors with positive ones, and systems theory to address environmental factors.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide case management and other mental health services as needed in client homes, in schools, in juvenile probation placement and in the community.

  • Provide non-traditional counseling, therapy, and case management services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to community based resources.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members and providers.

  • Presentations to community partners as it relates to assigned youth's treatment progress

  • Facilitate treatment team meetings which can include youth, family members, community members, Probation Officers and/or Child Welfare Workers

  • Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and IEP meetings when necessary.

  • Assist with planning for transportation arrangements for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings.

  • Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and agency-assigned paperwork

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required.

  • Eligible to register with the BBS

  • Own vehicle, California driver's license and insurance.

  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other licensing or certification requirements.

  • Experience in working with children in out of home care preferred

  • Bilingual abilities a plus!

Schedule

  • Full time Monday- Friday

  • Flexible schedule required, with the ability to work some evening and weekend hours as needed

  • Participate in On-Call Crisis Response 24 hour shifts on a rotating basis

Services) Clinician provides therapeutic services, including counseling, case management, permanency planning, and crisis intervention, to youth and young adults ages 6-21 years of age. Clinicians are members of a treatment team, and provide services at the program site and in the community, including schools, and family homes. Solano County KAS Services aim to address mental health symptoms that are impacting the youth's ability to successfully meet their life goals. In addition to symptom management and reduction, clinicians collaborate with youth and their family treatment teams to identify and work toward overall wellness goals, such as increasing independent skills, increasing adaptive coping skills, expanding their support network, accessing community resources, and pursuing employment and educational opportunities. Services build on the values and strengths of each youth and family, and are tailored to meet their unique and changing needs. As our approach to services is youth driven, each client identifies the focus of their treatment, as well as the people they want on their family treatment team, which may include supportive family, friends, or community members. The Clinician is the Primary Service Coordinator (PSC). The role of the PSC is to guide and oversee all aspects of treatment. The PSC authorizes services and is an integral part of the youth's team.Seneca is committed to hiring and maintaining a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse workforce that is reflective of the local client/student community. Responsibilities * Serve as the clinical lead and work with the treatment team to provide intake assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at the program site, in clients' homes, and in the community. * Act as the PSC for their client * Provide counseling, family therapy, and case management services to help clients achieve wellness goals relative to their life goals. * Collaborate with youth to develop their sustainable wellness plan that includes identifying their network of natural supports. * Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members, service providers, and county partners. * Participate in all staff meetings, trainings, and client meetings when necessary. * Complete mental health notes, treatment plans, outcome measures, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner. * Participate in weekly supervision with the program supervisor or designee. * Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Seneca's mission and philosophy. * Attend the Katie A. Child and Family Team meetings (at least every 90 days/quarterly). * All other duties assigned by supervisor or other Seneca Management. * Carries out functions and responsibilities as it pertains to giving orders and conducting evaluations of clients in restraint/seclusion as per Seneca Center Crisis Intervention Policy Section 8. Qualifications * Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work required. * License eligible: Currently registered or in process of becoming registered with BBS. * Knowledge of psychotherapy theories and interventions. * Prefer at least 9 months to 1 year experience in working in a mental health setting. * Experience working with diverse populations. * Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. * Own vehicle, California driver's license and insurance. * Ability to work as a team player. * Strong communication skills and flexibility.
