Job Description Summary:
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the KU School of Medicine in Wichita is looking for a psychiatrist who will teach residents to practice psychiatry in an outpatient and inpatient child and adolescent psychiatry setting. This person will train medical students to understand psychiatric diagnosis, treatment options, and how mental health relates to the health of the whole person.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry
Board Certified or eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Kansas
Current DEA certificate
Good standing with the Board of Healing Arts
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching & Education 0.23 FTE
Supervise, instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students on assigned educational clinical rotation(s) in accordance with department policies
Prepare and present formal lectures for psychiatry residents, psychology trainees, and medical students as required by the department
Prepare and update the educational goals and expectations of assigned educational rotation(s)
Engage in education committees as assigned
Complete GME time studies as assigned
Clinical Services, Inpatient or Outpatient 0.75 FTE
Participate in weekend call rotation
Participate in coverage for other faculty, at the goal set annually by the Chair
Supervise psychiatric services in the resident child and adolescent outpatient clinic at KUSM-W
Specialty clinics may be developed with the approval of the Chair
Provide psychiatric services in the faculty outpatient clinic at KUSM-W. Services may include group sessions, medicine checks, and therapy sessions and a wide variety of clinical services
Accurate and timely completion of electronic medical record entries for each patient encounter
Actively collaborate in clinical productivity and initiatives designed to meet RVU and financial benchmarks
Research & Scholarship 0.02 FTE
Department will support the development of a research program in their area(s) of interest, potentially in collaboration with the KUMC-W Center for Clinical Research
Meet research and scholarly activity requirements for promotion. Examples of promotable activities include: publishing research in peer-reviewed journals; presenting study results at regional/national conferences; applying for grants; publishing case reports; and involvement in health policy development.
