The Role

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the CTO plays a critical role in defining the human capital agenda to support the company strategy. The Chief Talent Officer will be responsible for the strategy and management of organizational development & change management, talent acquisition, talent and performance management, learning and development, workforce analytics and succession planning.

This role will deliver on key initiatives including: 1) ensuring AXA Equitable Life has the talent and programs in place to operate as a stand-alone public company and to excel in it's strategic objectives; 2) leading workforce and workplace transformation efforts ; 3) collaborating with the Chief Diversity Officer, and HR Business partners in developing and executing on the company's five-year People strategy.

Responsibilities with key areas of focus:

Organizational Development and Change Management

  • Establishing him or herself as a trusted advisor to the executive team as it relates to organizational design, process and people related decisions for the business in a concrete manner.

  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships to identify and respond to business needs; providing feedback to the executive team as "eyes and ears" on the ground.

  • Effectively translating business priorities into talent initiatives and plans and execution using an analytical and data-driven approach.

  • Advising on people strategies to support an efficient, effective and high performance organization.

  • Being a highly visible, positive and pro-active change leader.

Talent Acquisition

  • Attracting, developing and retaining top talent across the organization, to further enhance and evolve a performance-based culture needed today and in the future.

  • Partnering with business leaders to anticipate staffing and capability requirements that develop high performing teams.

  • Collaborating with Executive Management to recruit senior executives with public-company experience to meet the challenges of our new structure

  • Delivering on workforce and workplace transformation plan to relocate/recruit 550 roles from Metro NY to Charlotte, NC

  • Implementing an executive integration and onboarding process to ensure success (with a focus on new executives)

Talent Management

  • Build and facilitate a relevant succession planning program for the organization with a focus on enhancing succession planning at the Executive Management level:

  • the development of Enterprise Talents who can excel in critical roles

  • the development of executives with subject matter expertise, preparing them for their next role

  • identifying key outside talents and a continuous program of building relationships with those executives

  • Deliver development/sponsorship programs for diverse segments to build pipeline at the Director and Managing Director level

  • Establish a new leadership framework to serve as the foundation for all HR practices and programs including performance management and the learning curriculum

  • Develop skill assessment capabilities for AXA Equitable Life and develop programs to address gaps identified

Learning and Development

  • Building and implementing training, development and mentorship programs to retain, inspire and develop leaders at all levels.

  • Design a leadership development curriculum to raise the capability of the 50+ members of Executive Management

  • Continue efforts to up-skill company managers with a strong focus on leading teams through change, attracting/hiring diverse talents with potential, and delivering needs-based feedback

  • Focus on virtual learning - taking learning to where the learners are and making it easy for people to want to learn by themselves

People Analytics

  • Build data and analytics capability with a focus on providing business leaders with insights and recommendations when making people and organizational decisions

  • Develop robust workforce plans to align workforce transformation efforts with forward-looking talent needs and optimize labor alternatives, e.g., build/buy/borrow/bot

  • Lead internal operating model review of HR data and analytics activities to identify organization efficiencies

The Chief Talent Officer leads an organization of 20 HR professionals, with five direct reports, and manages a 7.7MM budget.

Key partners in Human Resources include: HR Business Partners, Chief Diversity Officer; Head of Compensation and Benefits; Head of HR Strategy and; Head of HR Shared Services.

The CTO collaborates extensively with executive management on their people and organization challenges and is deliberate in spending her/his time in identifying, meeting and developing talent across business segments and locations.

The role will be based in Charlotte, NC. The candidate must be willing to travel every other week for 2-3 days to NYC corporate headquarters

  • An insurance background is not required, but an understanding of financial services is beneficial. We need a Fortune 500 Procurement Leader with primary experience in the banking and financial services sector to be a strategic partner to business leaders with a goal to support the growth of our priority business segments with commitment to efficiency, risk management and data driven governance. AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company recently was IPO'd by our parent company AXA Group and we are undergoing an exciting and challenging transformation. This newly defined Lead Director - Chief Procurement Officer will lead the transformation of the sourcing, procurement and accounts payable functions, from a wholly owned subsidiary to a standalone publicly traded US financial services and insurance company. This will include re-defining our strategy, developing transition service agreements, leading significant change and influencing and partnering with business leaders to drive value from a third-party management standpoint. General Description: The Lead Director - Chief Procurement Officer reports to the Head of Real Estate & Third-Party Vendor Strategy and works closely with the other members of executive leadership. This position provides leadership to the US sourcing, procurement and vendor management, travel and accounts payable disciplines, ensuring terms of contracts are favorable to the business and related policies and practices are outlined, communicated and upheld across the company. Managed spend will be between $600-800m across US based public company, leading a team of 45 professionals (onshore, off-source and contingent labor force). This role will validate strategic direction, developing and implementing policies and procedures, partnering with each business, ensuring proper governance risk and control of third party vendors, managing procurement performance and provide executive updates on the procurement operations. Success in this role includes building alignment and working relationship with operational risk and Chief Information Security Office teams. Be a change agent leader, driving the cultural transformation necessary to achieve world class sourcing and procurement performance by the organization. Providing strategic and tactical leadership while evaluating current talent levels, upgrading where necessary, and developing the overall skills and capabilities of the team. Responsibilities: * Acts as a strategic partner with management to support their business objectives. * Strategic Vendor Management. * Manage third party vendor spend, including company-wide reduction targets through vendor management. * Outline and maintain enterprise-wide sourcing strategies and identify strategic provides/partners. * Establishes souring & procurement policies and guidelines that effectively balance business value, vendor governance and control and cost savings. * Works with key business partners, and develops sourcing and procurement plans that align corporate objectives to business needs while adapting to changing market conditions. * Guide issue and dispute resolution process for major, strategic contracts. * Oversee team who negotiates pricing for new services and serve as escalation point in the negotiation process. * Identify opportunities for leveraging and optimizing contracts that result in cost savings. * Initiate and hold people accountable for capitalizing on contract optimization opportunities. Job Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Master's degree preferred. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10-15 years related experience to include 8 years prior management experience required. Experience driving procurement and sourcing strategy across the enterprise, while enhancing the strategic value of third party vendor management and optimization of that portfolio. Typical Skills/Knowledge for the Role: * Experience in developing and implementing new procure to pay technology platforms in partnership with IT team. * The successful candidate will have prior experience in sourcing of Banking and or Financial Services industry. * Thorough knowledge of RFQ/RFP/RFI process. * Strong project management and stakeholder management skills. * Strong supplier relationship, organizational skills. * Strong facilitation, negotiation and influencing skills with ability to build effective working relationships with all levels in the organization. * Experience in working with an eProcurement system – SAP, Ariba a plus. * Ability to set and communicate goals, establish metrics, measure accomplishments, give appropriate feedback and hold parties accountable. * Ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations without damage to the relationship critical to success.
