Position Summary

This position is responsible for the overall administration and provision of psychological services within the Region. This oversight is accomplished in accordance with the clinical priorities set by the Psychologist Manager and regional priorities set by the Regional Chief.

Clinical services to be provided include: time-limited treatment to clients in individual and group settings as appropriate; psychological evaluation of clients; psychological consultation services to probation and parole agents and supervisors; participation on designated committees; consultation with psychiatrists, mental health providers, field and institution administrators, as well as other corrections staff involved in case planning and treatment planning (e.g. medical, emotional, developmental disability, educational) of a given client; staff development and training; clinical supervision to interns in Health Service Psychology consistent with American Psychological Association (APA) and Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) internship standards; participation in clinical supervision and training to maintain and further develop clinical skills; participation in clinical research as directed by the Psychologist Manager; and other assigned duties as directed. The Chief Regional Psychologist administers psychological services to ensure compliance with State and Federal guidelines and standards.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range (12-60) with a starting rate at $49.06 with an add-on of up to $6.00 per hour for an approved Doctorate in Psychology or a related field and an add-on up to $5.00 per hour for permanent Wisconsin Psychologist License. Plus, excellent benefits.

Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

This position has the flexibility of a hybrid in-office and remote work schedule up to 3 days remote.

This position requires travel throughout multiple counties and occasionally statewide.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of the appropriate psychology subject matter areas, including the psychology of personality, developmental psychology, psychopathology, psychophysiology, learning, perception, motivation, thinking, emotion and interpersonal relationships; knowledge of the preceding general areas as they apply to understanding and rehabilitating criminal behavior. Knowledge of American Psychology Association (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists; APA General Specialty Guidelines for clinical and forensic psychologists; knowledge of requirements of the APA and Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) for implementation of an internship in professional psychology; and chapters 51, 55, 880, 938, 971 and 980, Wisconsin State Statutes.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

This position requires permanent licensure as a Psychologist by the Wisconsin Psychology Examining Board of the Department of Safety and Professional Services as defined in Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 455.04(1). An interim license as defined in Chapter 455.04(2) is not sufficient for this position.

Candidates who are licensed as a Psychologist in another state may apply; however the candidate must be eligible to be licensed in Wisconsin and the candidate must have a Wisconsin license prior to the start date of employment.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
