This Chief Privacy Officer reports to Cignas Global Compliance Officer (GCO) and has enterprise-wide responsibility for, among other things, developing and maintaining effective policies and procedures, and training programs, regarding privacy and information protection. The Chief Privacy Officer is expected to partner effectively with colleagues in Cigna Legal, and business leaders across the organization, to identify, assess pragmatically, and mitigate privacy and information security risks.

This is a global role that requires seasoned judgment; diplomacy and an ability to analyze and solve problems three-dimensionally. The successful candidate will operate as a thought partner and collaborate with business leadership and other internal professionals, including those in Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Legal, Human Resources, and Information Security. This position requires a customer-focused mindset and an understanding of the perspectives of key stakeholders, including members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT); Cignas Chief Information Security Officer, Cignas customers and clients; and regulators and enforcement agencies around the world.

Key Responsibilities:

Leads a team that is responsible for providing guidance regarding statutes and regulations, and Cignas policies, procedures and practices, that address privacy and information security;

As a senior leader on the Enterprise Compliance team, leads the privacy and information security dimensions of Cignas annual compliance risk assessment;

Actively supports the governance dimension of Cignas Enterprise Compliance Program; prepares incisive and sophisticated reports for the GCO, and the General Counsel and other members of the ELT, and the Audit Committee;

Provides strategic guidance to corporate officers regarding information resources and technology;

Leads a team that develops, maintains, and, as warranted, periodically updates relevant policies and procedures;

Responsible for the development and implementation of an effective global training and education program;

Works closely with the Director of Compliance Investigations and colleagues in Cigna Legal to address reports of compliance concerns regarding privacy and information security matters;

Establishes and manages processes for mitigating risks;

Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure that Cignas policies and procedures are enforced consistently;

Collaborates with Internal Audit in the execution of internal audits and reviews;

Periodically reviews the privacy program in light of legislative and regulatory developments; and

Collaborates with Information Security and Internal Audit to ensure alignment between security and privacy compliance programs including policies, practices, and investigations.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree. Juris Doctor strongly preferred.

10+ years of compliance and/or privacy experience in positions of increasing responsibility. Minimum of five years of privacy experience.

Demonstrated ability to manage effectively complex and significant privacy and information security incidents and matters.

Experience interacting with state regulators, federal regulators, clients and customers with respect to information incidents, audits or other privacy or information protection related inquiries.

Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a fast paced environment.

Highly collaborative individual with ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships.

Consistent sound judgment and incisive, three-dimensional analytical abilities.

Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.

Strong, independent decision-making ability leads by example.

Intellectual flexibility adept at reassessing priorities to ensure that internal and external expectations are fulfilled.

Strong ability to navigate through barriers to drive successful initiatives throughout the business.
