Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Deputy Medical Executive (DME), Telehealth and Utilization Management Services or designee, the Chief Physician and Surgeon, Correctional Facility (Chief P&S) provides supervision for activities, clinical services, and professional practices of the Telehealth and Utilization Management Services physicians and clinical staff as well as performing of duties of Telehealth and Utilization Management Services physicians and clinical staff, as directed. The Chief P&S oversees the Telehealth and Utilization Management Services physicians and clinical staff, providing professional advice and guidance, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and program standards for health care services, managing scheduling and credentialing, and supervises all other duties performed by Telehealth/Utilization Management physicians and clinical staff.

The Chief P&S also participates in patient health care delivery as directed; participates in assigned committees, represents the CCHCS at meetings with a variety of stakeholders. Travel to statewide institutions and the CCHCS Headquarters is required.
