The Chief Operations Officer (COO) at EDCHC plays a critical role in ensuring our clinics deliver exceptional, efficient, and compliant care to our community. Collaborating closely with the Chief Clinical and Wellness Officer (CCWO) and other leaders, the COO guides clinic operations to meet key performance metrics like patient outcomes, staff and patient satisfaction, patient experience and access, and provider productivity.
In addition to supporting department heads across various service lines, the COO will lead high-impact organizational initiatives, from expanding clinic sites to introducing new service lines, driving excellence and standardization across all health center locations. Responsibilities Operational Leadership: Provide comprehensive operational support and strategic guidance to service line directors and managers of primary care, dental, behavioral health, and specialty clinics.
Lead efforts to optimize clinic workflows, enhance patient access, and align operational processes with EDCHC’s mission and performance goals. Ensure each service line has the resources, training, and support needed to deliver high-quality care and experience while fostering collaboration across departments to maximize service impact. Project Management : Serve as the organizational lead for major projects, including launching new clinic sites, introducing new service lines, and implementing system-wide improvements.
Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, timelines, and budgets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, engaging stakeholders at all levels to facilitate smooth transitions, effective change management, and sustainable outcomes that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Standardization : Lead the development and implementation of standardized workflows across all service lines to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality patient experiences.
Document critical processes and create accessible resources to support operational alignment, including detailed workflow guides and training modules. Establish training systems that equip staff with the knowledge and skills to adhere to standardized procedures, and regularly assess processes to identify areas for improvement, ensuring ongoing alignment with best practices and organizational goals. Compliance Assurance:
Ensure that all clinic operations adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as health plan requirements, to maintain the highest standards of compliance. Coordinate with Compliance department in the development and documentation of compliance protocols, including detailed guidelines for clinic practices and patient interactions. Implement comprehensive training programs to equip staff with the knowledge to follow compliance standards confidently and accurately.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to proactively address potential compliance gaps, ensuring that all clinics operate in full alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years in healthcare administration with a focus on operational leadership, ideally within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or rural clinic setting. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Clinical licensure with operational experience is also acceptable.
