The Parochial Employees' Retirement System of Louisiana is seeking applications for an Assistant Director.   Salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate selected.

The position will be domiciled in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, East Baton Rouge Parish.  Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory background check and reference verifications.

• A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting from an accredited college or university.

• Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting.

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with at least three years in project management.

• Knowledge of computer systems and their applications; ability to learn and operate the specific computer programs in use by the retirement system, including not only the member recordkeeping system, but also, the general ledger and securities accounting systems.

• Ability to supervise employees in a professional environment.

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

• High level knowledge of accounting and finance principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• LEAN/Six Sigma Green Belt, PMP, or CAPM Certification preferred but not mandatory.

• Experience working with a Board of Directors/Trustees in a private or public organization is highly valued.

The duties of the Assistant Director shall include, but are not limited to:

• Assist the director in planning, organizing, and supervising functions, including long range planning for the operation of the retirement system.

• Assists the director in designing, planning, and implementation of system level projects such as imaging and modernization of technology, and create Board reports on said projects.

• Assists the director in staffing and job description analyses.

• Advises the director of any administrative issues that arise on a day-to-day basis and propose solutions to these issues.

• Assist the director in overseeing the legal provisions for all separate retirement plans, each of which have unique benefit structures and criteria.

• Leads the processing of medical disability applications.

• Assists with research related to the annual audit and valuation.

• Assists in the development and implementation of policies, rules, and procedures in compliance with Federal and State laws governing the retirement system.

• Leads staff in the maintenance of the hardware and software applications necessary to maintain the retirement system database.

• May be required to represent the Board of Trustees and the director at regional/national conferences.

• May be asked to provide information on Board positions to legislative committees, both in writing and through oral testimony.

• Make presentations to participating employer groups, active members, and other organizations to impart information about the retirement system.

• Responsible for the operation of the system in the absence of the director.
