T. Rowe Price's Transformation Office is seeking a dynamic, high-energy leader to serve as end-to-end Strategy and Change Portfolio Lead for the Chief Operating Office (COO) organization. In this role, the candidate will team closely with the COO and COO leadership team to shape and implement a complex change strategy designed to create and improve various internal, foundational capabilities and assets that are required to enable the firm's broader growth agenda. This includes driving the COO organization's key change initiative - the Foundational Support strategy - and facilitating integration across complementary strategies including Offshoring Initiatives, Technology Strategy, Data Strategy, Real Estate Strategy. This will be done with clear tracking of benefit realization, end to end portfolio planning and management, stakeholder management, and oversight of strategy pillar and/or program/portfolio teams.

This leader will coordinate closely with the COO Leadership team, Chief of Staff and General Management team, the Transformation office leadership team and other partners to do so with specific focus on:

  • Appling expert, specialized knowledge of advanced methodologies, including high-level project management tools to conduct planning, scoping, portfolio health analysis and reporting, and related activities

  • Carrying out program management activities, including contingency/dependency tracking, status reporting, issue/risk identification and tracking, scope management, estimation, and internal/external stakeholder management

  • Overseeing Transformation Office workstream/task leads; resolving any escalated project risks, issues, and dependencies. Manages the overall scope and timing of the program, ensuring delivery is on time and within budget.

  • Developing and implementing a compelling and cohesive change narrative with C-suite stakeholders and middle managers regarding key programs and transformation activities, while enabling advocacy

  • Driving change management and communication, as well as value realization planning and tracking, across the COO change portfolio

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight of a business unit portfolio of programs and projects that are delivered through multiple teams.

  • Manages direct and matrixed execution teams responsible for delivering expected business value within committed time frames and budget through end-to-end project and program management activities such as reporting, planning, issue/risk identification and tracking, scope and dependency management, estimation and forecasting, client management, relationship management, and other project/program documentation preparation.

  • Serves as a liaison between internal clients and other stakeholders to ensure delivery of business value across the portfolio within expected time frame and budget. Ensures project and program delivery within the business unit portfolio conforms with company methodologies and standards. Manages contingencies across the portfolio and monitors interdependencies where required. Proactively recommends approaches to mitigate contingencies and dependencies within and across programs.

  • Develops content for inclusion in executive level communication (messaging, collateral, etc.) to help relay strategy story, progress and risks to garner and maintain support.

  • Secures, leads, motivates, and inspires the internal and external resources required to effectively deliver the program. Establishes the program's governance (e.g., sponsors, approvers, stakeholders). Participates in the evaluation, selection, and management of external resources or vendors. May require interaction with regulators. Provides transparency in project progress and effectively anticipates and mitigates major risks across the project life cycle. Proactively crafts feasible solutions to combat risks and issues.

  • Exercises sound judgment, balancing risks and making prompt decisions in ambiguous or difficult situations. Manages communication with business unit leaders at a detailed functional level and discusses/resolves issues.

  • Proactively manages multiple teams of program and project managers. Collaborates with leaders to develop templates for statements of work, stakeholder management plans, guiding principles, program goals, risks, resource allocation, and roles and responsibilities.

  • Leads governance meetings, including reviews of major projects and programs with health issues, portfolio contingencies and interdependencies, change saturation, solution adoption, and benefit attainment. Facilitates risk mitigation and resolution of highly complex issues.

  • Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops a team, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth.

  • Assists in translating business unit strategy into programs and projects. Creates project and process specifications and coordinates with project teams to ensure that high-impact projects are on schedule and to budget. Strategizes and develops tools and training methods to enable successful execution throughout the enterprise. Trains and coaches sponsors and project teams in execution methodologies and promotes adoption of best practices. Ensures program and project delivery, within the business unit portfolio, conforms with company methodologies and standards. Recommends enhancements to project management tools/techniques and company methodologies. Strategizes, develops, and disseminates tools and trainings to enable superior execution throughout the enterprise.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND

  • 12+ years of total relevant work experience and 5+ years of management experience

  • Project portfolio management experience in the context of operations, data, technology, as well as offshoring.

  • Experience in the finance/asset management industry.

  • Demonstrated experience leading large complex transformations.

FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week OR as a fully remote role (subject to the firm's Telework policy).

Regional Requirements:

Base salary range:

$170,500 - $291,000 USD for the locations of: Colorado and the State of Washington

$212,500 - $350,000 USD for the locations of: California and New York

Placement within the range provided above is based on the individual's relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined upon company and individual performance.
