The Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief of Staff is responsible for serving as an extension of the executive team internally and externally. You will support Mosaics' key strategic initiatives, working regularly with key stakeholders across the company, and have visibility into and influence on the highest level of decision-making and execution at Mosaic.

Your day-to-day

Your responsibilities will change based on the most pressing needs of the business at any given point in time. There are, however, a set of baseline responsibilities that you will be expected to own regularly such as:

  • Preparing the CEO for key external stakeholder meetings (investors, industry executives, key strategic partners, etc)

  • Acting as thought partner to the CEO and executive leadership on strategy, including owning research and development of new strategies

  • Organizing and facilitating the annual strategic planning process and supporting preparation and follow up from quarterly board meetings

Additionally, you will be expected to take ownership wherever there are immediate strategic execution needs. Examples of business needs that have involved our Chief of Staff are:

  • Leading Mosaic's RFP response to and negotiations with a major Solar partner

  • Sourcing and executing new strategic partnerships for our Home Improvement business

  • Developing a thesis for how Mosaic should approach a new Solar channel and building relationships with key players in the channel

  • Supporting our Phoenix office launch (hiring initial team, negotiating lease, etc)

  • Evaluating strategic M&A opportunities

What you bring

  • 5+ years experience in a combination of private equity/venture capital, management consulting, investment banking, and corporate strategy

  • Experience with financial services (lending) and/or technology (product development, go-to market)

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with and influence executive-level internal and external audiences

  • Effective and mature communicator able to convey complex ideas and strategies concisely both verbally and in writing

  • Team player mentality; able to manage teams and willing to roll up your sleeves

Participation in Medicaid also supports the states in which we operate as we care for their neediest citizens. All seven Kaiser Permanente regions participate in Medicaid programs under various contracting models ranging from delegated/capitated health plan services to fee for service. Kaiser Permanente Medicaid membership has doubled since 2013 to just under one million members in 2017. Provide leadership and facilitation in the resolution of highly strategic and sensitive issues or projects of regional, statewide, cross-entity or cross-functional and reports directly to senior leadership. The incumbent acts as an advisor and thought partner by leading teams to identify, track and measure issues, project plans and associated risks for resolution and consolidation, providing expert level consulting capabilities to the functional area to realize leaders' strategic agendas. Lead teams to gather data, researching and consolidate issues, summarizing information and making recommendations with relevant stakeholders to advance the senior leaders' agenda. Incumbent routinely and proactively represents the executives' positions in meetings, committees and in developing integrated functional projects, communication plans and scorecards to measure effectiveness of initiatives. On behalf of the executive, oversees the functional area operations including budget and strategic planning. Maybe responsible to manage other executive/internal consultants and staff to proactively identify and resolve issues of strategic importance to the company. Essential Responsibilities: Executive Consultation and Leadershp: Acts as an advisor or thought partner by structuring undefined issues for resolution, researching issues, summarizing information and working with relevant stakeholders to provide the executive with the information needed to make sound decisions. Provides leadership, consultation and analysis regarding state-wide, cross-entity or cross-functional performance and strategic opportunities. Identifies and recommends approaches to issues and identifies the most effective means of solving the issues. Facilitates committees and task forces of diverse membership. Ensures the delivery of high quality results on time. Acts as a communication liaison between the office and direct reports by providing advice and speaking for the executive. Routinely represents the executive's point of view and proactively makes decisions on behalf (within established parameters). Assists and advises direct reports to ensure their recommendations and reports to senior executives are coordinated across the organization and thoroughly crafted. Partners with a variety of individuals from other entities, other regions, national program, and labor on behalf of the executive on projects or on issues that require resolution. Prepares formal presentations for the executive as well as papers and public statements. Develops, leads and monitors the office budget. Develops and leads forums for executive consultants to coordinate efforts and cross-entity or department silos to help this set of individuals to continuously improve and build their skills and effectiveness in support of their executives and the organization. Functional Area Management. Drives internal planning processes associated with the development of a functional area goals and priorities.
