  1. Bachelor's Degree in Administration of Justice, Police Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Criminology, or a related field is preferred. 2. Minimum requirement of an active Basic California P.O.S.T. or the ability to recertify a previously existing P.O.S.T certificate of the same type, within 24 months of appointment to the position (California Penal Code, Section 832.4). 3. Possess and maintain a P.O.S.T. Supervisory/Management Certification or the ability to complete and maintain a P.O.S.T. Supervisory/Management Certification within 12 months of receiving Basic California P.O.S.T. certification while under contract with ERUSD. 4. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible cumulative experience in law enforcement. 5. A background in K-12 school policing is highly desirable. 6. Valid California Driver's License. 7. Valid First Aid and CPR certified. 8. Current Perishable Skills Certification; including Use of Force Options, Driver Simulator, Tactical Communications, and Arrests and Control Techniques (ACT). 9. Current School Resource Officer Advanced Training Certification (NASRO). 10. Bilingual desirable. Failure to provide the following required documents will result in applicant being screened out:

Comments and Other Information

Under direction of the Superintendent and/or designee, the Chief of Police will oversee the diverse safety and security needs of the students, teachers, administrators, staff, and the community of ERUSD. Firearms are not allowed or used in the performance of this position. He/she will be responsible for all police functions on ERUSD school campuses and lead, manage, organize, plan, direct and select District Peace Officer staff; coordinate, budget and review the District School Police Department program to protect persons and property and assure a safe learning environment.
