This is an administrative position that develops, organizes, and effectively administers a comprehensive program involving training and course delivery. A high degree of creativity and flexibility is required to serve the administrative needs of statewide customer base.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure the efficient and effective execution of regional training programs throughout the state of Louisiana and the municipal center based programs in both Baton Rouge and Minden. Develop and evaluate innovative services that meet fire service community needs. Provide direction and leadership to FETI training staff in the development and evaluation of training programs and instructor evaluation and development. Represent FETI with professional associations, government agencies, foundations, and fire service organizations at the national, regional and local level. Ensure the timely preparation of institutional reports as required by internal and external entities. (50%)

Participate actively in the LSU Fire and Emergency Training Institute resource management process: develop annual revenue and expenditure projections, operate within budge guidelines in assigned areas of responsibility, and seek new sources for resources and revenue. Reallocate resources based on budget priorities and institutional needs. (20%)

Provide leadership and vision in FETI's strategic planning process. Collaborate with the Senior Administrator, coworkers, and key stakeholders within the state fire service community in the development of FETI's short and long-range goals. (20%)

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director. (10%)

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, Homeland Security, Adult / Vocational Education, Workforce Development or related field and 10+ years experience. Senior level command experience and the management of firefighter training and professional development.

A strong understanding of the national fire service certification and education programs (IFSAC, ProBoard, FESHE and National Fire Academy). The applicant must hold IFSAC or ProBoard accredited certifications for Hazard Materials Awareness and Operations levels, Firefighter I and II, Driver Operator, Fire Service Instructor I and II as well as Fire Officer I and II. Proficient in relevant computer skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Associate's Degree in Fire Science or related field plus 10 years of senior level command experience and 5 years management of firefighter training and professional development may be substituted for the Bachelor's Degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, Homeland Security, Adult / Vocational Education, Workforce Development or related field. IFSAC or ProBoard accredited certifications for Fire Inspector I, II, III, Fire Instructor III and Fire Officer III. National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer designation and Center for Public Safety Excellence Chief Fire Officer designation.

Special / Physical Qualifications:

Due to the nature of the position and/or position responsibilities this position shall be subject to drug/alcohol testing in accordance with University Policy Statement 67. Must also possess a valid Louisiana driver's license.
