CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Chief Mechanical Engineer to join one of our following locations:

  • Colonie, NY
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Rochester, NY
  • Richmond, VA

The chief engineer is responsible for the technical direction and leadership in the delivery of our Mechanical Engineering and Design Services at CHA.


  • Technical Direction: Responsible for providing recommendations to the Group Executives and Market Leaders on the strategic technical direction related to the delivery of our This will include research and development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies to support the Groups/Markets and technical group and to assist in the development of technical expertise in core market areas.

The Chief Engineer shall develop into a national practice leader and provide input into the technical direction of that area of practice across the CHA enterprise.

  • Seek new client relationships: Responsible to assist Corporate Business Development and the Groups/Markets in the growth and sustainability of the market through on-going business development and marketing efforts geared toward new and innovative technologies, working closely with the individual Client Sectors and Regional Leaders, and staying abreast of emerging trends and initiatives in the The Chief Engineer may also have Client Advocacy responsibilities (CLAD).

  • Project Qualifications and Proposals: Participate in the proposal development process to make sure we are putting forth the right technical solutions and leveraging the available technical knowledge within the In addition, they will attend interviews and review project plans (scope, schedule, and fee) in the Technical Group, which are within their area of expertise, to ensure that they reflect a sound planned approach to the project.

  • Development of Corporate Brand: Actively participate in conferences and workshops (as a presenter), and encourage and support the development of papers, articles, and presentations, as well as participation in technical organizations, all with the goal of enhancing the technical image and competency of our staff and corporate


  • A bachelor's degree is required, M.S. preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.

  • Professional Engineering licensure is required.

  • Knowledge of principles of engineering and engineering design experience specifically in the areas of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection with applicable knowledge of electrical/structural/architectural design for applying coordination among trades within design.

  • Proven experience and knowledge with the delivery and construction of multi discipline water / wastewater projects.

  • Must possess exceptional organizational and time management skills with an obsessive attention to detail.

  • Must be able to collaborate and bridge the communications gap between the engineering team, service technicians, business managers, and clients, interfacing with each.

  • Must possess technical acumen and the ability to troubleshoot on a variety of projects.

The Responsibilities . * Responsible for accurate and thorough handling of data collection, technical analysis, summary of findings and production of reports. * Uses deductive reasoning to solve a variety of basic engineering problems. * Conducts routine research and troubleshooting activities for basic reports * Develops methods and tests on projects of limited scope and complexity within defined engineering practices and policies. * Prepares reports, summarizes data and recommends solutions to routine problems. * Performs other duties, as assigned. #LI-SC1 #LI-POST #CB# The Individual * BS with 0 to 2 year's experience, MS with no experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Must be able to apply basic theoretical and practical application of one of the following engineering disciplines: Biomedical, Chemical, Chemical Process, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Processing. * Ability to use standardized test equipment to solve a variety of basic technical problems related to the development, testing, calibration, validation and maintenance of experimental, prototype and existing laboratory and manufacturing equipment. * Working knowledge of emerging technology trends. * Basic experience with the application of engineering design skills, a general understanding of field service practices, and basic engineering trouble shooting skills.
