The Chief Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive rapid and sustainable growth for New Relic. This role requires a visionary leader with a deep understanding of market trends, customer behavior, and emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of scaling businesses, building high-performing teams, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment. This leadership role will oversee multiple GTM teams to accelerate growth including Product Marketing, Corporate Marketing, PLG Marketing, Developer Relations, and Competitive intelligence.
We are seeking a high-performing executive leader to lead global demand generation and field marketing strategies. This data driven leader will have extensive background in building and managing marketing teams and experience to drive net new logo along with a targeted account approach in conjunction with sales; partner and channel collaboration on GTM opportunities; digital marketing managing integrated programs through multiple diverse channels; demand generation to build growth strategies; and marketing operations integration with sales ops for funnel data.
What you'll do
Delivers significant value to New Relic by co-creating a sustainable multi-year growth strategy with the executive team
Develops and implements objectives and forecasts for New Relic, and inspires strong execution
Owns and/or significantly contributes to revenue and growth targets for New Relic
Leads financial stewardship for New Relic and manages the function's budget and headcount
Develops senior leadership bench (VP+) while building a long-term vision for New Relic's DEI, hiring, and retention strategies. Responsible for succession planning, leadership development, and leading workforce planning efforts across New Relic
Proactively seeks out and integrates diverse perspectives and then commits fully to organizational decisions; aligns and bridges communication across the organization, with executive peers, and stakeholders
Assesses intangible variables to provide strategy and direction to drive business growth and improve the company's competitive advantage(even if controversial) and finds creative ways to follow through with minimal to no external support
Analyzes complex situations (considering emerging trends, technological advancements, economic climate, market research, and financial analysis) and makes sound and difficult decisions (where a precedent may not exist) that balance short and long-term objectives of New Relic and has the foresight to anticipate and overcome any organizational boundaries
Strategic Planning: Lead the development of the company's growth strategy, including identifying new market opportunities, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), and setting ambitious but achievable growth targets.
Go-to-Market Strategy: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market plans for new products, features, and markets.
Customer Acquisition: Drive customer acquisition initiatives across multiple channels, including digital marketing, partnerships, and sales, to achieve growth objectives.
Retention and Engagement: Develop strategies to maximize customer retention and engagement, including lifecycle marketing, customer segmentation, and personalized experiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, marketing, sales, and other teams to align growth initiatives with overall business objectives.
Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor KPIs to track the effectiveness of growth initiatives, and provide regular reporting and updates to executive leadership.
This role requires
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
20+ years of experience and expertise in leadership roles within the GTM function, leading multiple VP/GVPs as direct reports with a focus on growth, marketing, or business development.
A technology industry thought leader and influencer; publishes articles, contributes to research or industry reports, establishes themselves as a recognized authority in the field, and moves the needle in the industry.
Marketing and growth expertise as required for the multiple functions
Experience managing P&L and driving hyper-revenue growth and profitability
Successfully optimized high-performing teams across multiple divisions, in very ambiguous and volatile environments, repeatedly, while dealing with larger-scale challenges, such as regulatory changes, business reorganizations, and technology advancements
Deep understanding of digital marketing, customer acquisition strategies, and emerging trends in technology and consumer behavior.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable growth strategies.
