Position Summary

Use your leadership abilities, technical expertise and drive for providing innovative technology solutions to UCLA as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Advancement Services. This position will support UCLA's best-in-class fundraising program, alumni affairs programs that connect Bruins worldwide, the outreach and engagement activities of our government and community relations team and all the important back office processes and functions of our External Affairs organization.

As the CIO, you will guide and provide solutions to the technical and information based ecosystem/s of all the work we do while also serving in an executive leadership role responsible for the overall management, development and implementation of UCLA's advancement services information systems and technology strategies. Salary & Compensation

  • UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 15 years of experience managing large scale IT programs/projects including staff management in a complex university environment; within a university or comparable decentralized environment. (Required) Minimum 10 years of experience with a strong record of accomplishment in leading enterprise level application modernization initiatives across multiple departments and business units, within a university or related setting. (Required) Minimum of seven years of experience in building, growing and managing diverse and talented teams of IT professionals including software and platform engineers, business and data analysts, project managers and helpdesk professional. (Required) Extensive experience Working with complex and sophisticated CRM systems implemented using Blackbaud CRM to include upgrading highly customized vendor software in self-hosted environment. (Required) Superior knowledge of e-commerce technology and its application in non-profit digital fundraising; familiarity with landscape of online giving, event management, constituent engagement, marketing and communication from both technical and functional perspectives. (Required)Critical and strategic thinker; proven ability to anticipate trends, identify opportunities, set future visions and articulate strategies to achieve goals. (Required)Proficient in IT governance frameworks, industry standards, and best practices such as ITIL/agile methodologies; expert knowledge in developing/maintaining robust and secure information systems according to cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, ISO, PCI, HIPPA, and GDPR. (Required)Superior knowledge of decoupled, modalized design for technology ecosystem, microservices architecture for application development, containerization for CI/CD, and API integration for building flexible and extensible applications and platforms. (Required)Strong financial acumen and deep understanding of the business operations, processes and objectives of university advancement services; ability to align IT strategies and initiatives with the overall university advancement goals. (Required)Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate, negotiate, develop respect, build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals and objectives. (Required)Excellent presentation skills to convey ideas and concepts precisely, translate technology concepts for non-technical audiences and ability to represent UCLA advancement in conferences and events. (Required)Continuous learning mindset, with a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and best practices. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

Master's Degree or advanced degree in information science, business administration, or other relevant discipline. (Preferred)
