The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the ongoing IT operations including maintenance, support, upgrades, and new functionality. To this end, the CIO will work together with the CTO to identify and select technologies, the IT Business Relationship Management office (who performs intake and road mapping) and the IT Project Management office to deliver new or enhanced functionality to align with the IT Steering Committees priorities.

The CIO will lead a growing IT organization of 40 professionals across the following areas:

  • Core Applications especially Oracle, Agile, and Hyperion.

  • Service Desk and End-User Support.

  • Manufacturing Engineering Applications including 40+ shop floor applications as well as shop floor hardware and software support.

  • Infrastructure including servers, networking, data center operations and backup/recovery.

  • Stable and operational Digital Applications.

  • Business Intelligence including data architecture and reporting.

Both SIG SAUER and the IT organization are continuing their growth with several major U.S. military contract awards made in 2022 (including the U.S. Army Next-Generation Squad Weapons and ammunition contract), requiring the creation of additional factories and hiring of hundreds of employees to support the growth. Additionally, SIG SAUER is expanding its direct-to-consumer businesses requiring infrastructure support on web and other technology enabling applications.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage a high performing team of 40 accountable for core and manufacturing engineering applications, service/help desk, infrastructure, and business intelligence; utilize third parties as warranted to ensure internal and external user needs are being met.

  • Develop and maintain an IT organizational structure designed to meet the company's needs and demands; assess and identify the most cost-effective investment of financial resources toward IT systems, staffing, daily operations, product purchases and/or in-house development activities.

  • Establish IT goals and timelines for projects; regularly communicate status through the PMO office.

  • Provide leadership, planning and management execution for information technology strategy, development and implementation including, but not limited to:

  • Voice and data communications and networking.

  • Hardware device support (mobile, desktop and server).

  • Database management.

  • Enterprise software applications including Oracle ERP suite, Agile PLM, various SaaS applications.

  • Business intelligence including data warehouse modeling, Cognos BI, and report writing.

  • Web/social media development and security.

  • Outsourced vendor management.

  • HR and administrative system training and user support.

  • IT security systems/solutions.

  • Gauge and anticipate the diverse needs of the company's key business customers; monitor trends and innovations in the industry to meet those needs; make actionable recommendations to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and senior leadership.

  • In concert with Information Security Office, ensure IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes are in place and regularly review for currency and adequacy.

  • Partner actively with the CTO to deliver new web and consumer digital application; support the development and implementation of strategic long and short-term technology plans.

  • Develop and maintain IT budget and manage costs.

  • Participate and support long-term business growth strategic planning.

  • Ensure adherence to government regulations and guidelines for technological systems and safeguarding of data.

  • Develop training documents for systems users, including infographics, slide shows, and video tutorials.

  • Communicate technology needs and strategy to fellow members of executive team.

  • Help direct development of customer-facing web platforms and digital experiences.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer or software engineering, information systems, or other analytical field; MBA or other master's level degree a plus.

  • Minimum 10 years of C-level, VP, or Director level management experience in a technology role in manufacturing organization(s) of at least $1B in revenue.

  • Extensive experience with IT strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ways and methods by which technology supports a fast paced, entrepreneurial business environment.

  • Practical experience with recent developments in technology issues, effective oral and written communication capabilities, a commitment to customer service, and excellent presentation skills.

  • Experience designing and developing IT systems.

  • Deep understanding of business analysis/problem solving including data analysis and business principles.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current computing, telecommunications, and emerging technologies.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; and the ability work Strategic thinking, planning and change management skills.

  • Leadership, management, and mentoring skills.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
