The Chief Information Officer (CIO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team for EvergreenHealth.The CIO is responsible for providing executive leadership and oversight for information technology (IT), clinical informatics (CI), analytics, telecommunications (VoIP), biomedical technology, and health information management (HIM) functions (collectively CIO Shared Services) . The CIO works directly with physicians, executives, directors and other leaders to identify opportunities to improve organizational performance through the alignment and use of existing and innovative IT programs and platforms. The scope includes oversight for all aspects of planning, design, selection, implementation, maintenance and support for areas of responsibility.

More specifically, the CIO:

  • Develops, recommends and oversees the short and long-range strategic plan, objectives, policies, budgets, and operating plans for the IT function, in conjunction with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

  • Directs the planning, design, and implementation for IT applications, technical services, and health information management to further the mission of EvergreenHealth.

  • Works closely with medical staff and administrative leadership to ensure there is accessibility of relevant information and availability of communications technologies that promote patient safety and an efficient environment in which to practice medicine.

  • Leads the development and execution of the IT Strategic plan, goals and operating plans to ensure there is alignment with the organization's strategic plan and priorities.

  • Works with key partners and affiliates to develop and maintain an effective population health infrastructure.

  • Partners with marketing and virtual health teams to identify and implement digital innovations that improve the experience of the organization's patients, physicians, and staff.

  • Monitors resource utilization to ensure expenditures are appropriate for identified initiatives and priorities.

  • Leads, promotes, and contributes to efforts to improve overall organizational performance and productivity.

  • In partnership with the COO, CFO and other senior leaders, assesses and prioritizes capital expenditures for IT related equipment, software platforms and resources.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education

Required for the position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information technology, business, or other technology discipline or healthcare-related degree

Desired for the position:

  • Master's degree in Information technology, business, or other technology discipline or healthcare-related degree

Experience/Training

Required for the position:

  • 10 years of experience in Health Care Information Technology
  • 5 years of experience supervising IT professionals
  • IT clinical applications experience in a healthcare setting

Desired for the position:

  • Cerner experience

  • Clinical background experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required for the position:

  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation and mediation skills

  • Strong organizational, analysis and delegation skills; success in team building and team working with internal and external teams.

  • Ability to lead, organize, and positively influence a team of information technology professionals.
