Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are seeking an energetic, accomplished leader with a successful track record of delivering large and complex systems to both employee and consumer audiences. To do this they will need to work closely and collaboratively with senior leaders within Claim as well as across the broader IT community within Travelers. He/She must have the ability to recognize opportunities, make strategic decisions on prioritization, manage risks, anticipate obstacles and mobilize the organization to act. A seasoned talent manager, this individual must demonstrate a passion for building high performance teams and possess a track record for hiring, developing and retaining skilled business and technology professionals.

The CIO must assist in appropriate IT governance within the Claim organization and help ensure alignment across the enterprise, monitor delivery value, effective utilization of resources, risk management and performance metrics. He/She must analyze, budget, allocate and reduce costs where possible, while at the same time effectively communicate the value of investments and leverage these across the organization. We seek an adept leader with an unwavering commitment for program execution, program management and a leader who seeks continuous improvement through emerging tools and methodologies.

The successful candidate must be an astute listener who seeks to clarify and correctly interpret messages from others, as well as adjust style for diverse audiences and demonstrate openness in sharing information and keeping people informed. This individual will write, speak and present clearly and persuasively.

Job Summary

Travelers seeks a Chief Information Officer for its Claim organization, a division that currently represents over 12,000 employees. As a member of the Claim and the Technology leadership teams, the CIO will partner with senior management team members to create strategy and bridge technology solutions to organizational objectives that support Claim's transformative technology strategies. The CIO will lead, manage and architect the planning and implementation of internal and external information systems, as well as provide operational leadership for hardware and software platforms, data integrity, security, communications systems, IT policies/procedures and IT vendor relationships. The CIO will lead a team of approximately 300 colleagues and will also have oversight for a dispersed team of 300+ Global Sourcing professionals. The CIO will be a member of both the Claim Senior Leadership Team and the Enterprise Technology Senior Leadership Team where he/she will assist in leading the Company and engage on issues beyond technology and claim in an inclusive collaborative environment.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

  • Successful record of accomplishment as a CIO or senior business and information technology leader, with a minimum of 15 years of progressive, results-oriented tenure in a complex, diverse and matrixed organization

  • Track record of translating organizational strategy into actionable technology solutions that drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction

  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Science or other related discipline; MBA or other IT Management education is preferred

  • Experience in the Property Casualty or other insurance/financial services industry

  • Experience working with Agile Practices is preferred

This position will report directly to KAR's Chief Compliance Officer. The Deputy Chief Compliance Officer for KAR ensures the Adviser is in compliance with the rules and regulations of regulatory agencies, that company policies and procedures are being followed, and that behavior in the organization meets the company's standards of conduct. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensures that the Adviser and the Funds are in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations of the SEC, ERISA, FINRA and various state agencies. * Oversee the Adviser's compliance practices in the investment management of the 40 ACT funds, institutional, wealth advisory and wrap lines of business * Assist with the preparation of required annual compliance report for Adviser. * Responsible for Regulatory filings, including form ADV, 13F,13G and foreign company filings * Review and maintenance of Compliance Manuals * Monitor and ensure compliance of sales and marketing activities and practices at KAR * Monitors the Code of Ethics for Personal Trading and ensures compliance with advisor policies. * Monitors compliance of portfolio transactions and trading activity at all KAR locations. * Monitors mutual fund and institutional compliance with objectives and guidelines at KAR. * Oversee maintenance of KAR and Fund regulatory and internal records. * Assists in contracting process with vendors and clients. * Assist with Virtus compliance in maintaining branch office registration and continuing education requirements. * Member of the Best Execution Committee and Risks Investment Compliance Committee for KAR * Assist in the testing, development and/or revising procedures designed to ensure compliance with the Investment Advisers and Investment Company Acts * Responsible for CCO activities, in the absence of Chief Compliance Officer * Performs other duties as required by management.
