Ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards as well as New York State building codes that pertain to Fire Safety.
Patrols NYRA Premises at Saratoga Race Track and performs fire inspections on a daily basis.
Evaluates inspection and performance of patrolmen assigned to fire prevention in barn areas at Saratoga Racetrack.
Keeps computers updated as to the location of data strips and generates reports.
Conducts fire prevention, inspection of barns, grandstands and dormitories.
Must be qualified to inspect and maintain all firefighting equipment.
Consults with NYRA officials regarding potential fire hazards and code requirements.
Trains Peace Officers, Seasonal and Meet Security Guards in fire safety and the use of firefighting equipment.
Acts as a safety liaison between NYRA and local fire departments.
Aids in the development of fire safety programs.
Conducts semi-annual inspections of fire hydrants and sprinkler connections in accordance with the OFPC.
Supervises and trains NYRA personnel on evacuation plans.
Assists all employees, vendors and guests prior to arrival of Fire Department in emergencies.
Coordinates with the Facilities Manager in maintenance of the Fire Alarm System.
Planning and development of Emergency Incident Action and Evacuation Plans.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: Ten (10) years of experience as a professional firefighter with the Fire Department with Safety and Fire Prevention responsibilities.
Knowledge of NYS Codes Enforcement Officer; Fire Officer 1; Fire Instructor 1 or equivalent; Fire Inspector 1; ICS 100, 200, 300, 700, 800;
Supervisory practices and procedures;
Expertise in Fire Safety and the management of safety programs;
Experience in conducting Fire Investigations;
Must be willing to work a racing schedule, which involves weekends and many holidays.
New York Racing Association
