Open Position: Chief Financial Officer, Full Time

Salary Range: $125,000-$135,000

Job Description: As the Chief Financial Officer at WSL, you will be responsible for directing all financial affairs of the organization using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), including general accounting, purchasing, billing and reimbursement, credit and collections, payroll and benefits oversight and other financial matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive strategic and operational financial oversight to all functional areas of the organization while maintaining appropriate checks and balances to ensure prudent fiduciary compliance and alignment with Auditors suggested best practices.

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the financial affairs of the organization collaboratively with the President/CEO.

  • Supervise, review and direct the activities of the Financial Services department to ensure accuracy and compliance with both generally accepted accounting principles and any relevant regulations.

  • Develop and produce or supervise the production of comprehensive monthly and year-end financial statements and annual budgets. Review with the President/CEO these financials and then present them to the Board of Directors at their monthly meetings.

  • Work directly with the companys designated auditing firm. Understands the organizations critical issues from an accounting perspective and is well trained to ask the appropriate questions during the year when necessary. Collaborates with the auditors and the President/CEO during the audit process as well as if presented with findings.

  • Prepare accurate and timely cash flow projections.

  • Review Accounts Receivable balances, monitor aging and collect delinquent accounts.

  • Supervise the maintenance of current records that reflect operational expenditures including cost, inventory, etc.

  • Work with Admissions, Resident Services (Resident Care & Engagement), prospective residents and families to assess and confirm the financial alignment and fit for prospective residents.

  • Maintain or supervise the maintenance of schedules for capital outlay and fixed asset depreciation.

  • Provide oversight of payroll accounting methods, including special accounting functions required by any employee benefit or retirement plans, insurance accounting required by the federal FMLA, etc.

  • Review/negotiate/confirm compliance with department heads for ALL contracts that WSL enters with outside services. ALL final contracts should reside with the CFO and should be monitored appropriately for renegotiations.

  • Review and maintain appropriate insurance coverage policies and act as primary liaison between WSL and insurance agent.

  • Keep current working knowledge of changes in tax and other laws that could affect WSL.

  • Supervise and mentor IT & Support Services Manager and technology support staff as well as confirm appropriate oversight of specialized outside service providers.

  • Comprehensive responsibility for the Organizations complete Information Technology Infrastructure

  • Oversee and confirm compliance with comprehensive Cybersecurity protection to ensure the organization is protected from Cyberattack and data breaches.

  • Review the performance and accuracy of Financial Services team members and make any necessary adjustments, including counseling and discipline. Document all review activities.

  • Conduct performance evaluations as instructed by the HR Manager.

  • Assist other team leaders in planning and conducting in-service training to instruct personnel in financial matters such as the economical use of supplies, saving money by proper use and maintenance of equipment, recycling, and other methods to avoid waste.

  • Acts as WSLs HIPAA Security Officer.

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in accounting with a minimum of 5 years of progressive managerial experience.

  • Strong expertise in technology

  • Advanced skills working with spreadsheets & Financial Accounting software. Must be able to work comfortably with pivot tables and considered proficient with Microsoft excel.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.

  • Effective personal organization skills

  • CPA highly desirable.
