The Position

Our bank client is seeking to fill a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role in the Cleveland, OH market. This position is the CFO of the bank overseeing all the banks accounting functions. The selected candidate will be responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of bank operations including; accounting and controls, regulatory reporting, financial analysis, and management reporting. We are searching for someone who is both a strategic visionary and day-to-day leader.

This position offers a competitive salary of up to $140K plus bonus, full benefits package and a Simplified Employee Pension.

Chief Financial Officer responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all financial and accounting functions and staff within the Bank to include ALM, AP, AR, budgets, G/L, financial analysis, financial reporting and recordkeeping, investments, and all related functions.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues and initiatives affecting the organization.
  • Manage the interest rate risk of the balance sheet along with chairing the Asset/Liability committee.
  • Oversee and manage the Banks investment portfolio that provides liquidity and safety while optimizing earnings.
  • Develop and maintain budgeting systems to provide financial projections and control expenditures; recommend budget policies and procedures.
  • Plan, prepare and oversee the annual budget. Oversee all purchasing activities. Utilize cost accounting measures to determine project profitability and ROI.
  • Coordinate the funding for the institution and monitor the liquidity and cash position of the Bank.
  • Analyze financial information, cash flow, market data, and industry trends to determine effective cost-effective measures and pricing strategies to increase profits.
  • Establish and maintain strong financial controls to manage operational expenses.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, reports and tax filings.
  • Respond to audit findings. Formulate and implement solutions to rectify issues.
  • Provide strategic business guidance with department heads. Assist in the negotiation of vendor contracts, projects, and business endeavors.
  • Develops proposals for alternatives to funding and spending decisions to make optimal use of funding alternatives.
  • Assist the payments and prepaid card division with Treasury Management activities as well as accounting and analysis for the division.
  • Monitor bank performance in regard to the annual budget. Determine industry trends and respond to changes in the market to maintain profitability.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives, commissions, and salaries for the staff.
  • Member of ALCO, IT Committee & attending all Audit Committee meetings.
  • Interface with the banking industry and the community.

  • Bachelors degree in finance or accounting from a four-year college or university required.
  • Six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in PC software such as Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Excellent attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, listening, and written.
  • Familiarity with Jack Henry, Fedline EUAC, United Bankers Bank Portal, FDIC Connect a plus.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities, meet deadlines and resolve highly complex financial problems
