Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer is accountable for the financial, administrative, and risk management operations of the company and will work in cooperation with the other members of the Senior Management Team to achieve acceptable returns for our investors and successful outcomes for our employees and other constituents. The CFO will also take a key role in analyzing, planning and implementing business acquisitions and significant capital expenditure to support the Companys growth plans. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, energetic and engaging style, guided by the vision, mission, and goal of the company. These responsibilities are to be performed while actively demonstrating the core values of the business.

Essential Duties and


  • Assist CEO and Management Team in developing and implementing the strategic plan and aligning/procuring resources to meet the goals and objectives of the company
  • Provide strategic leadership of the financial and administrative development of the company
  • Responsible for implementing financial policies and procedures, planning, analysis, budget and cash management
  • Generate accurate and timely internal financial reports and financial model to support planning, forecasting and budgeting
  • In coordination with the Senior Management Team develop and implement annual operating and capital budgets for all departments
  • Prepare and maintain multi-year forecast and perform analysis of budget/forecast variances and financial trends
  • Update annual projections with periodic financial forecasts
  • Responsible for advising CEO and Board of Directors on financial matters, as well as creating and maintaining integrity of internal and external reporting and fiscal controls
  • Evaluate capital investment opportunities and model expected outcomes to support decision-making
  • Work with the Board to evaluate business acquisition opportunities
  • Monitor financial policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure proper use and effectiveness
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting
  • Monitor financial covenants in debt agreements and maintain current lender relationships
  • Present financials to Board on a quarterly basis
  • Review and approve customer and vendor contracts
  • Responsible for authorization and approval of all lease agreements (buildings, equipment, etc.)
  • Recruit and retain staff and make hiring recommendations. Supervise, train and develop staff
  • Partner with other leaders in the business to develop and implement process improvements and to create more efficient accounting and administrative processes
  • Occasional travel as necessary to other locations


Bachelors degree required; MBA desired

At least fifteen (15) years of progressive experience

Manufacturing experience

Experience working with banks and should understand financial covenant restrictions

Must have strong ERP systems knowledge; MS Dynamics experience preferred

Financial modeling experience

Desire to be part of a team responsible for running a business

Experience working for a private equity portfolio company desired

To learn more please visit: Our CFO in Training development program has been designed to identify high potential hospital based financial leaders in the marketplace and internally within the UHS hospital system. Chosen candidates will be placed within a UHS free standing inpatient psychiatric facility and work closely under the tutelage of a Chief Financial Officer. During the training period candidates will focus on key areas of the business, gaining expertise in the accounting and finance functions along with managing and creating a successful team. Focus on facility financial metrics including but not limited to, provider contracting, budget and strategic planning, Accounts Receivable, Business Office oversight, preparation of monthly and yearly financial packages, FTE management/staffing in relationship to patient volume to name a few. The program prepares fast-track healthcare financial leaders to harness their talent and broaden knowledge of financial leadership within a UHS inpatient Acute Psychiatric Facility. Candidates that successfully complete the training will be placed as Chief Financial Officers within the UHS Behavioral Division. The knowledge you gain during this process from interactions and real life work examples will help lay the ground work for becoming a Financial Executive within our Behavioral Health Hospitals. Throughout the years UHS has attracted and developed a large number of talented hospital CFO's. Do you have what it takes to be a UHS Behavioral Health Hospital CFO Candidate must be open to relocation once training is successfully completed. UHS operates nearly 200+ Behavioral Health Facilities nationwide. Candidates that successfully complete the program will be placed in a Chief Financial Officer role and will need to be open to relocation. Relocation assistance is provided to candidates by UHS once program is completed. The successful Chief Financial Officer in training will work to develop the following skills and responsibilities: Monitor and control accounts receivables. Closely oversees Business Office functions to ensure cash collection goals are met, and net revenue is properly stated. Improve the profitability of the hospital. Continually monitor costs in all areas, especially staffing as it relates to patient volume. Develop and monitor policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced hospital operating costs, and increased revenues. Prepare monthly financial statements, financial packages, reports/analysis Provide reconciliations, account analysis, and other information for Reimbursement Department, Tax Department, Auditors, etc., to aid in preparation of reports. Prepare annual budget in conjunction with UHS standards. In cooperation with management and department heads, reviews prior financial results and discusses anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends of the facility.
