The Chief Engineer is a key member of the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort Leadership Team whose primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the maintenance and repair of owner units, common areas, and central systems such as water, air conditioning and electrical, ensuring the health, safety and good working order of the building. Additionally, the Chief Engineer ensures guest and owner satisfaction and safety by providing efficient and courteous service to maintenance requests and preventative maintenance plans. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for ensuring individual units and public areas are in good physical repair and of an aesthetically pleasing quality while also focusing on generating maximum profitability using resort standards for efficient use of equipment, tools and ordering of supplies.

The day-to-day duties and responsibilities include managing employees, including employee relations, training, scheduling, payroll processing, and distributing work assignments. Ensuring prompt response to guest requests and proper maintenance of owner units, common areas, pool and spa. The Chief Engineer will also be responsible for analyzing and controlling engineering operations and expenditures for the property, assisting with preparing annual budgets and ordering supplies for the Association of Apartment Owners (AOAO) and the Classic Resorts rental program.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer experience in a major first class hotel. Candidates with an associate's degree and hospitality/AOAO industry experience at a supervisory level and/or technical engineering staff level will be given preference.

The ideal candidate is also someone who meets the following qualifications:

    • Proven performance records of major areas of hotel operation of maintenance, including but not limited to: building construction, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, HVAC, water and sewage, preventative maintenance systems, safety and fire prevention, and energy management.
    • Forecasting and budgeting, departmental profit and loss analysis, strategic planning, five-year plans, decision making process.
    • Knowledge of building security, locks and hardware and ground recreational facilities management pest control and sanitation.
  • -Experience providing safety training and with OSHA requirements including Lock-Out/Tag-Out, MSDS sheets, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and training obligations.
    • Possession of a Valid Driver's license and access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated per requirement of all laws.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language, exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage projects and establish priorities with diverse time lines and responsibilities.
    • Computer literacy and significant experience in composing correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, problem solving, investigation and research.
  • -Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis, to climb up and down a minimum ladder height of 12 feet, and to climb seven (7) flights of stairs as needed.
