Posting Overview:

The Chief Engineer supervise the implementation of all property and equipment preventive maintenance and repairs, monitor life safety systems and utilities and assist in the administration of the department in compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and employees. Supervise the day-to-day operations.

Recommend and implement procedural changes. Monitor and control expenses.

Abilities

Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying weights up to 25 lbs. and greater, for all hotel equipment and machinery.

Frequent bending and/or kneeling throughout the day for repairs and maintenance of hotel property, equipment and machinery.

Mobility throughout the hotel, all floors, varying heights and distances. Use of ladders and lifts required at times.

Continuous standing required in varying degrees throughout the day.

Climbing approximately 210 steps 10% of each day.

Climbing ladders approximately 20 feet 5% of each day.

Driving - limited driving on an occasional basis for supplies, equipment, etc. Generally within 20 miles.

Education/Formal Training

One to two years of post high school education.

Experience

Experience required by position is from two to three full years of full employment in a related position with this company or other organization(s).

Material/Equipment Used

Chemicals/Agents used: Water treatments, cleaning, degreasers, coil cleaners, paint thinners, gasoline.

Protective Clothing - facemask (chemical testing), goggles, rubber gloves, welding shield worn approximately 1%.

Environment

Work inside 95% of a week; outside 5% of a week.

Abnormal temperatures - walk-in freezers below 32 degrees

  • 1% of the time.

Equipment operation - power hand tools (i.e. circular saw, drill)

CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience * High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. OR * 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 1 year experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. CORE WORK ACTIVIITES Assisting in Management of Property Operations * Assists in effectively planning, scheduling and evaluating preventative maintenance programs. * Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees. * Monitors timeliness and quality of completion of repair work orders. * Assists in managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems. * Assists in providing regular on-going communication occurs with employees in order to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations and recognize performance. * Recommends or arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment. * Selects and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings. * Assists in supervising the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments. Assisting in Maintaining Property Standards * Assists in inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required. * Maintains accurate logs and records as required. * Operates generators and fire pumps as necessary. * Provides emergency response services 24/7. * Repairs equipment (e.g., refrigeration, laundry) as necessary. * Ensures all employees have the proper supplies, equipment and uniforms. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service * Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service. * Sets a positive example for guest relations.
