Job Summary

The Compression Technologies & Services (CTS) Chief Engineer Serves as the technical leader within the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) responsible for internal and external technical interface, the development of the SBU technical organization, all elements of product technology selection, development and implementation to achieve business goals. Leads innovation and technology initiatives. Creates, maintains and drives strategic technology roadmaps linked to SBU growth strategies. Develops and maintains effective relationships with external technology partners (3rd party developers, strategic suppliers, laboratories, certification bodies and technical universities), and manages the intellectual property process and portfolio for the business. Provides oversight and mentors engineering team members across the SBU. Ensures product design integrity and reliability to meet the customer expectations for performance, reliability, durability, and safety within the customer environment.

REPORTING: This position typically will report directly to the CTS VP Engineering & Technology and may have dotted line reporting and/or PMP objectives tied to Engineering PGT Director(s). This position typically has no direct reports, but can have dotted line reporting of principal engineers within PGT's engineering organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Exhibit a depth and breadth of experience in product and industry knowledge.

  • Chair the Independent Design Review process to provide oversight to critical NPD initiatives.

  • Gain knowledge with intellectual property law and processes (i.e. patent law).

  • Experience working with external third parties in joint development efforts (development partners, universities, labs).

  • Develop a view of strategic vision that promotes both short and long-term growth and impact.

  • Experience with the practice of Robust Engineering, Modular Product Architecture and associated tools (requirements & functional analysis, DFEMA, DVP&R, etc.)

  • Developing and managing relationships with external technology partners (universities, certification bodies)

  • Participating and/or leading due diligence requirements for merger and acquisition opportunities

  • Working with senior leadership to develop and implement enterprise level innovation & technology strategies

  • Provide technical oversight and mentoring to engineering team members across the business

  • Participate with SLT to develop and implement engineering and technology strategy

  • Ability and opportunity to influence the direction of the organization through its' technology strategy (short / long term) and direction

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 15 years of industry experience required.

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Engineering preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS or KNOWLEDGE:

  • Background in compression system technologies, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of design & manufacturing principles, demonstrated experience with machined, cast, plastic and sheet metal components.

  • Strong project planning / management and organizational skills.

  • Self-starting with strong collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams spread across multiple geographical regions.

  • Experience with financial reporting and tracking systems, including basic cost accounting and project viability assessment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business and able to lead by influence across the entire engineering organization.

  • Familiarity with Windchill and CAD systems, specifically Pro/Engineer, would be an advantage.

The Remote Monitoring Services Operations Analyst Team within the Compression Technologies and Services (CTS) business is a strategic role within the Service Operations Center of Excellence (COE) organization focused on the services growth initiative and executing the our digital services strategy. This team exists to help us create a differentiated experience for our most valued customers. This position supports our Industrial Business. * This position has the opportunity to work from any IR location * Job Summary: The global team of Remote Monitoring Services Operations Analysts will be our "go to" team of expert caliber customer issue problem solvers. They will serve as the first line of defense of incoming "digital" customer alerts and alarms triggered to us via our Remote Monitoring platform. This team will be networked globally and will be asked to develop a "follow the sun" process in order to capture and disposition all alerts and alarms in real time (24 hour coverage). This team of master problem solvers is asked to collaborate closely with other cross-functional teams including Technical Support, Service Operations, Sales Excellence, as well as all of our local sales and service branches who have customers monitored on this platform. Primary Responsibilities: * Receive, triage and disposition customer alerts and alarms from all CARE agreement assets that are monitored remotely * Work with local service teams (Service Coordinators, Service Supervisors, Service Leaders and Service Technicians) on procuring parts and supplies necessary to complete repairs in a timely fashion * Build capability to triage customer issues according to Service Level Agreements (SLA) in place (e.g. - agreement specific resolution time), usually measured in hours * Continue the build out of our knowledge library of asset failure modes, root cause, and repair plans for remote monitored assets * Assist local service teams in achieving their target installation goals * Develop proficiency in the operation, maintenance requirements and failure modes of our compressor and accessory portfolio * Collaborate heavily with Technical Support and Engineering on these aspects * Over communicate with channel partner sales and service teams about customer specific issue resolution(s) and overall progress and strategy of this initiative * Assist in the development of standard work, deployment plans, and change management plans to ensure solution success * Participate in strategic A3s (kaizen events), 9 step problem solving, and Rapid Experiments to continually improve our capability to serve our most important customers better and faster * Participate and develop improved practices with our Service Advisor tools Qualifications: * Desired applicants will have ~ 8 -10 years' experience of troubleshooting industrial/commercial/mechanical, centrifugal and controls systems * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal * Strong analytical and problem solving skills * Advanced skills or knowledge in the following areas: Electrical / Electronic Technology. AC/DC circuits, wiring diagrams/schematics, motors/controls, PLCs, controllers, and refrigeration systems are all considered a plus * Functional knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite as well as proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad), Siebel or Salesforce.com capability is a plus * Ability to work effectively across functions to deliver results, influence and execute multiple commitments within a fast paced environment. * Successful history of being a part of a winning team!
