The Role:
Initially this would be an individual contributor role setting the standards of excellent quality for engineering at the organization. This will include reviewing the designs of other engineers.

  • Lead the technical decision-making processes and guide technical development across all space systems disciplines
  • Lead technical reviews, engineering change, and configuration management process adherence
  • Identify technical issues and proactively implements resolutions to mitigate schedule and cost impacts
  • Identify vendors and oversee spacecraft component selection
  • Provide technical mentorship to team members and monitor technical integrity of all team member contributions

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, math, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in satellite design, development, test, and operations across multiple flight projects/programs
  • Repeated experience taking satellite products from concept phase through prototyping, qualification, launch and operation
  • Demonstrated leadership of space systems engineering teams
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth across multiple spacecraft engineering disciplines
  • Broad understanding of the spacecraft component supply chain and broad network of vendor relationships across the supply chain
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Learn more about Santa Clara Valley Medical Center: Hospital and Clinics at and follow us on: Twitter I @scvmctalent Facebook I LinkedIn | Typical Tasks * Analyzes the utilization of staff and distribution of workloads with respect to the organization; fiscal management; and social, political, professional, and specialization trends in psychological practice within the assigned area of responsibility; * Assesses and identifies the educations needs of staff as well as the quality of delivered psychological treatment and testing; * Identifies situations requiring corrective action, and organizes, analyzes, and presents appropriate documentation; * Develops staffing patterns that provide for quality patient care; * Collaborates with the Chair, Department of Psychiatry, the Behavioral Health Services Department Medical Director, and the Director of Ambulatory Services, as indicated, to influence institutional goal setting by identifying and communicating problems, pressures, and trends; * Collaborates with appropriate levels of psychological, administrative, and other medical staff to determine, develop, and promulgate policies and procedures to be used by clinical psychologists; * Participates in long-range planning, and establishes goals and objectives to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care, consistent with best-care, evidence-based practices; * In collaboration, plans a systemic approach to staff development education, and training for the purposes of recruitment and retention; * Participates in the process of identification, development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental goals; * Facilitates the formulation of patient-care standards, and monitors the delivery of patient care to ensure compliance with standards and best care practices; * Uses systemic methods to resolve patient-care problems; initiates planned changes, evaluates outcomes, and implements corrective action through conscious, deliberate, and collaborative efforts; * Participates in resolving unusual or complex interdepartmental problems as they relate to provision of patient care; * Serves as mediator for personnel concerns which cannot be resolved at a lower level in the organization; * Facilitates communication between departmental staff; * Meets regularly with administrative staff to share information and problem solve; * Participates in directing and implementing policies and procedures for the appointment, transfer, and termination of psychology staff; * Participates in selection of candidates for available positions through initial interviews based upon the specific skill-sets and competencies required on individual psychology services, and determines the candidates' skill level and compatibility with the health care team through personal interviews and other means; * In collaboration with administrative staff, and staff developers, implements and evaluates orientation programs; * Participates in the development and fostering of leadership and management skills in psychology staff; * Assists in implementing the most cost-effective utilization of staff and delivery of psychological services; * Prepares budget requests for area of responsibility; * Monitors schedules and assures that systems and resources support work variables, volume and work flow; * Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulatory Standards, including but not limited to 42 CFR, Titles 22, 15, and 9, of the California Code of Regulations; the LPS Act of California Welfare and Institutions Code; and all policies, by-laws, and rules of the Santa Clara Valley Health and Hospital System; * Collaborates with the Chair, Department of Psychiatry, the Behavioral Health Services Department Medical Director, and the Primary Care Medical Director, as indicated, to identify need for corrective action of an employee and initiates action when necessary; * Periodically reviews organizational structure, policies, and procedures to enhance administrative effectiveness and support goal attainment of the clinical programs; * Directs and implements peer review; participates in utilization review and quality improvement projects and programs; * Reviews incident reports to identify and correct common problems; * Annually evaluates own personal performance and job satisfaction based on attainment of established goals; * Supervises, coordinates, and evaluates the work of subordinates in their assigned area of responsibility; * Determines skill level and compatibility with health care team through personal interview and other means; * Participates in the evaluation of the delivery of support services necessary to facilitate quality care; * Responds to and resolves questions, inquiries and complaints and makes recommendations for policy changes where appropriate; * Attends committee meetings and makes reports as required; * May be assigned as a Disaster Service Worker, as required; * Performs related duties as assigned. Employment Standards Sufficient experience and education to demonstrate the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities: Training and Experience Note: The knowledge and abilities required to perform this function are acquired through possession of a Doctoral level degree in Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Educational Psychology, Education with a specialization in Counseling Psychology, or Education with a specialization in Educational Psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) - accredited graduate program; AND Five years of clinical experience in psychological treatment and testing, including two years of directing/administering a psychology service, supervising staff psychologists, or equivalent. Special Requirements: Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology. Possession of a valid California Driver's License prior to appointment and the ability to obtain and maintain a County driver's authorization. Knowledge of: * Theory, techniques and the practice of psychology; * Theory, techniques and practice of psychological and neuropsychological testing; * Management and organizational principles; * Legal responsibilities, delegation, supervision and communication principles; * Federal, State and County laws, codes, rules and regulations, as well as standards as they apply in an integrated healthcare delivery system; * Administrative problems involved in the operation of a complex modern delivery system; * Computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
