The Chief Engineer is a key management position within our KOP Hyatt Place. This individual will play a key role in the upkeep and maintenance of the hotel property.
Specific responsibilities include:
Participate fully as a member of the Executive Committee team, providing input to help in achieving the hotel's goals
Comply at all times with standards and regulations that ensure a safe and efficient hotel operation
Direct all areas concerning the physical maintenance of the hotel complex via the Engineering staff
Responsible for maintaining on going preventative maintenance programs, project management as well as training and development of the Engineering team
Ensure team members have a full understanding of Hyatt Brand standards, philosophy and specific position processes
Ensure team members maintain safe working conditions and work practices through continuous training certification on safety standards to include JHA and MSDS
Maintain effective Energy Management and Preventative programs and conduct special training for other departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel
Manage the inspection of all building systems to ensure safety for the guests and staff and to minimize expense
Oversee the proper ongoing maintenance of all equipment to include but not limited to the Laundry facilities, Kitchen facilities, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, pool, all building mechanicals and sewage systems
Coordinate and control all in-house and contractor projects as needed
Comply with all local and state codes and stand operating procedures
Oversee the guest room and public area preventative maintenance programs so as to meet hotel and Brand standards
Maintain proper and detailed records of all purchase through a PO system, get multiple quotes for work unless otherwise directed
Work with all other departments in the hotel to ensure that the needs needs and requirement of the guests are met in a timely and satisfactory manner
Ensure that an effective work ticket program is in place and used properly
Ensure that a proper and effective line of communication is maintained between the Engineering Department and all of the departments in the hotel.
Minimum High School diploma, Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering a plus
Must have valid Driver's License to drive company vehicles
Solid working knowledge of all technical aspects of engineering, i.e. mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC
Must have excellent people skills, ability to train and mentor team members at various levels of development
Must have the be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the hotel
Must be proficient with computers, to include spreadsheets and word processing
Must carry one self in a professionally in both appearance and manner at all times, setting the standard for the Engineering team
Always work as member of the overall hotel team, showing a positive can do attitude to the guests and fellow team members.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
Physical work is a primary part of job and it is performed inside and outside with equipment, machines and/or operating a motor vehicle. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks that requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. The physical requirements include extended walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling and lifting up to 100 pounds. While performing job duties, the associate is required to listen, speak and write. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle.
