Performs administrative work in carrying out the direction of the Clerk of Circuit Court. Assists the Clerk in working towards the achievement of departmental objectives.
Assists in coordinating and compiling city and state annual budget. Conducts studies and research. Bachelor's degree from four year college or university with major course work in business management/law courses, accounting or related field; experience and/or training in budget development, strong computer background and five (5) years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Examples of Duties
Supervises all the activities and operations of the Clerk of Circuit Court office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervises all deputy clerks in the operation of the Clerk's office
Oversees bookkeeping, office facilities, equipment maintenance and office layout
Coordinates office activities with other city offices
Prepares and maintains all personnel and payroll records of clerk's office
Assists in preparation of annual budget for city
Prepares statistical data
Maintains caseload reporting system
Assists in planning and requisition of office equipment and supplies
Assist in or requisitions payment of funds or services
Attends court sessions
Prepares court orders
Interprets statutes and other court-related procedures
Prepares records of cases appealed to Supreme Court
Executes and issues a variety of legal documents and instruments
Supervises approximately 8-10 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four year college or university with major coursework in business management/ law courses, accounting or related field; experience and/or training in budget development, strong computer background and five (5) years supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information to management.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and deal with an extensive variety of variables.
Ability to formulate a vision and develop practical courses of action to accomplish goals. Ability to think strategically.
